This boom arm is an excellent value compared to other boom arms. The mechanism for tilt is an excellent design and doesn't slip even with a heavy monolight on one end and small sandbag on the other side. It's not too heavy nor too light, and build quality is excellent. Easy to connect to existing light stands.

This boom arm works perfect for what I needed it for. The arm is very heavy duty, and will extend about 5 feet. I would recommend a fairly decent quality light stand, or even a C-stand for added support. Since I'm using a lightweight microphone, I'm using the included sand bag at the base of the tripod. For a heavier attachment consider using appropriate weight at the rear of the boom. Be sure to get a couple zip lock bags (I used gallon size) to put sand in. On the front there's 3 positions to hold the light stand adapter, and it can be rotated to any position. The light stand adapter has 3/8 and 1/4 male threads on opposite sides for mounting almost anything you might need.
