The things that appealed to me about this scale are the large platform, and the display being backlit and off to the side. My old kitchen scale is on the smaller side, with no backlit screen. This means that when weighing in larger bowls, it's extremely hard to read the measurement. That won't be as much of a problem with this scale. One thing I know about my old scale is that it's extremely accurate. So the first thing I did was test both the larger and smaller platforms on this scale by weighing the same items on each. What I found out is that the larger platform is a perfect match in measurement to my old scale. The smaller platform, however, consistently gives a reading of 1 gram heavier for every item I tested. This is likely a calibration error. For me, I don't think this will prove to be an issue, because I'm honestly not sure how much use I'll have for the smaller platform anyway. But this is something to consider for anyone else if they feel they will need both platforms to be reasonably accurate and in sync. This also has a bit larger footprint than my old scale. In my house, an older house with limited counter space and storage space, this is something to consider.Overall, I'd say this unit is fine and, despite the slight accuracy discrepancy, it's fairly functional.
