I don't think there's such a thing as a good printer any more. I spent an entire day reading reviews and really could find no concensus for good printers. The 7510 arrived today and setup took an inordinately long time. The machine makes horrible noises and jerkings around while aligning, though this seems to be normal and not a problem for print quality. Text quality is quite good, and though I've not yet utilized the various types of duplexing available, based on other reviews I anticipate it being fine. I am apprehensive about print settings management not being up to task- on my old MP610 I could save print profiles which would automatically assign paper source, media type, and various print quality settings, however I have not yet found such a solution on this HP.But the real deal breaker has been the photo printing. In setup the printer offered to print a test photo, so I selected one from my computer and used the included free sample of HP photo paper. The photo came out very dark, and even tinted a bit, so that the white walls and grey carpet in the picture appeared more tan. I then spent the next few hours troubleshooting and hunting the internet for answers and got almost nowhere, I also used up all the free sample photo paper, plus a few sheets of my own, (though even after a dozen photos, the ink levels still look fine. This is better than my old Canon MP610, which would have shown a perceptible dip.) As for managing the dark photos, it seems I am far from the only one who finds the 7510's photos to be far too dark, though no one seems to have a good solution. Here's what I've found: You should go into your print driver settings on the computer, click the advanced button, and turn off HP Real Life Technologies. This improved the print quality slightly. Also, leave Color Management on Adobe RGB and ICM (Image Color Management) on ICM Handled by Host System. (I tested each of these settings and the alternatives were worse.) The only real difference I could elicit from the system was by manually brightening each photo prior to printing. As an example, 5 clicks brighter within HP's lousy Photo Creations software seemed to make the photo print decently. I think I'll try even brighter still. If I hadn't also already bought a full $100 worth of extra large ink tanks for this printer I'd seriously consider returning it for a Canon Pixma MX882 or an Epson Artisan 837. In fact, I may still do so. This printer might be fine for a home office, but to be dubbed "Photosmart" is a serious misnomer. Heck, if it hadn't billed itself as a photo printer I'd easily give it 3 stars.

This is a GREAT printer and system. It had everything I wanted. However, it DOES NOT WORK unless plugged in ot the computer by a USB cable. There is a FIRMWARE issue that needs to be repaired. The main feature, being able to operate on a wireless network, operates OK... but when the device goes into energy saving mode... it will not auto-wake when a printjob is sent. the only way to get it to start printing again is to unplug it for 30 seconds and restart it. There is no option to turn off the energy save-mode, only to set it to a 5, 10, or 15 minute delay before going to sleep.I spent several multiple-hour phonecalls on the phone with HP customer support. They even mailed me another brand new device. After that one also failing to work, the HP rep advised me they have a Firmware issue that prevents the printer's from being utilized on some wireless routers after going into sleep mode. I use a Dlink wireless router, and tried my old linksys as well but both did not work. Setting up my iPhone as a personal HotSpot (basically turning my iPhone into a router...) the printer WOULD wake from sleep mode for my computer.I finally reached a high enough level tech that said they are working on the firmware issue, but do not have a launch date expected anytime soon. This printer is known to have issues communicating with many routers, and has a high failure rate when dealing with Apple computers.

I'd had this printer for just a few days and it seems to work flawlessly. I'm not experiencing the buzzing noise some complain about nor does it make any more noise than any other printer while it is operating. The scanner works great, the copier function is working, the automatic feeder feeds right on que and the paper has yet to jam in about 50 print outs so far. No issues with the WiFi networking - connected right up. The quality of the print outs is excellent, exactly what one would expect from HP.I really like the LCD menu and how it operates, and while the apps are a bit lame, it's mostly geared toward students and children, there are a few useful apps - haven't really played with those much yet. All in all, it's a nice printer and assuming I don't wake up one morning to a dead printer, I think it was a good investment. Again, not sure why so many have experienced issues although many issues seem to be MAC related and well, that's another story altogether. HP is not ever going to be that MAC friendly - hey, they make PC's - not Mac's.The price on this printer moves around some, I caught it at below $130 on Amazon (and no tax or shipping), now it's nearly $140 on Amazon. Costco and BJ's are selling it now for $139 to $144.UPDATE: Have had this printer now for a few weeks and it continues to perform flawlessly - hate to heap too much praise on it yet, but I am impressed, especially with the photo printing capability. Then again it is an HP - so I would expect nothing less. Now that Costco refills the cartridges, price on ink should be very reasonable as well.
