I got this for my brother for Christmas. He wanted one for a long time and is really happy with it. The hard case seemed poorly constructed with hing misalignment the most obvious flaw, but it works ok. The scope seems well made and feature rich.

Great glass. Zipper on soft case broke on first purchase, exchanged for a second. Zipper broke on second one. Decided to keep it with the broken zipper; not worth the hassle. Horrible customer support.

I had a celestron spotting scope which just was a piece of trash. It's a shame but I found this one. I had been looking at the reviews because I needed to replace the one I had. This one looked interesting and I happened to see there was an Amazon Warehouse deal. This was to be 95% with some cosmetic damage. I decided to take a chance. The scope didn't have a mark on it but the soft case was missing the zipper slider. I can get that replaced. The charge was $95.00 for the scope which made this a great deal plus Amazons return policy is great. This was a win/win for me.A have a school across the street from me and I could see the registration tag on a car which was 175 feet from the scope. I could see the two Phillips screws holding the license plate on the car and this was at the lowest power -20x. As I turning the power up the exit pupil got smaller. This is workable as a target scope. Very happy with the scope. Hard case is good, tripod is crap and the soft case cannot be used if scope is rotated on the tripod.

For the price it's great however, glass is not something to go cheap on. This is my first spotting scope and it has worked out fine. Eye relief is terrible. Tripod is terrible. But again for the price great deal! The glass itself is okay, perfect for the money. The soft shell case is really nice and turned out well for hunting.

I was really excited to get this scope. I took it out today for the first time. Unwrapped it, set it up and it worked great. When done I placed caps on and started to put the cover over it. Once it was on I started to zip it up. No excessive pressure, case was not tight but the zipper literally ripped right off! The Metal at the zipper literally snapped in half. I know this was a case but make me concerned about the quality of the rest of product. I just wish I tested this out before the window for the return ran out! If the seller is reading this, send me a new cover, I will be happy to re-use the scope and cover a few times and give a overall review based on all components. Unfortunately this small thing ruins the product experience and leaves a bitter feeling for the brand. I look forward to hearing from the seller about this issue and hope they do the right thing!

So far so good. Package arrived in a timely fashion. Reviewed all components and packaging. Case is perfectly good, and a hard case is always nice for protection, especially for traveling to the range. Other reviews talk about it being cheap and would break if dropped. Most things will break when dropped. Don't drop a fine instrument like this one. The price is well worth what it is. Unless you are a national champion shooter this is perfect for what it will be used for. Save the money and buy yourself a nicer gun... I did! I will provide additional review when I take it to the range for spotting targets.

**Update for 2018. The scope is still working great but I see the price has changed from $70 to $180. I dont think the comparison can be made below based on this new price point. **As the title states, I was unsure which of the two scopes are best for spotting at 25,50,100yrd ranges. The Celestron 52229 and the Barska AD12356 WP have good to mixed reviews so I ordered BOTH to determine which was best. The Barska looks to be a new product, so the long term reliability is still an unknown, if it breaks 6mo from now, I'll be sure to update this review. **** Bottom line, head to head, the Barska wins hands down in overall feel and performance. So far I'm happy with it ****Pros of the Barska AD12356 WP* the 20-60x65 vs the 20-60x60 actually made a big difference. The field of view on the Barska was surprisingly MUCH bigger than the Celestron at 60x zoom.* Optical Performance, the Barska was clearer and brighter then the Celestron at 60x power. I mean, best you can get for under $70 but noticeably different at all powers* Unit is much heaver, maybe by 3 times as heavy. Its probably due to the rubber'ish? overmold / dipped coating and not metal parts. anyway, this helped keep the scope steady on the bench and protects it from light dings. Pretty sure its not drop proof protection.* The eye piece is angled, and much bigger than the Celestron. Also the focus and action feels smoother. The Celestron had almost a plasticy grimy feel to the eye piece and was half the size.Cons of the Barska AD12356 WP* the tripod, yup its pretty cheap see below.* the case, same thing.. cheap see below.* the soft case is really more of a soft sleeve or wrapper that the scope stays in. Its kinda nice as this will add some protection to a "tip over" since its padded but I don't see my self walking around with it out of the box.Side Note: Barska AD12356 WP vs Celestron 52229 and what they have In common* same optical power, both scopes will be able to see groupings at 100yrd.* same price point* the exact same tripod!, and yes it pretty bad quality but will get the job done* same hard case, its also a bit poor in quality for bothI think you just need to keep in mind, for $70 you get what you pay for. My use of this scope is dry days, on a bench, at the range for 100yrd and maybe 300 some day.... For that function it works good for me.

I bought it mostly because it was on sale and my neighbor and I like to shoot rifles. As we get better, we shoot further and it's harder to see where your shots are landing. I wasn't sure if it would be that good, but I was pleasantly surprised. My neighbor had a similar one so we compared them. It was no contest! This is excellent. We haven't even gone past the 20X because that's all that we've needed so far. I live on a mesa about 6 miles from the ocean. With this scope, I can clearly see people and cars on the ocean. Quite amazing.
