I am a location recording engineer and am always on the lookout for good sounding portable DACs, this DAC is unbeatable for the price. Since I usually record in 2 channel stereo, symphony/chamber music/choral and some jazz projects, I have an excellent reference for the sound of the original event....and this DAC displays the best characteristics of the music without emphasizing one aspect of the music over another. Great imaging, separation of instruments, and macro dynamics. Of course, at this price is not the ultimate listening device, but you can spend a lot more money and get a lot less sound. I wish that they sold their Aurora on Amazon, the only other one I see for sale is their home DAC, and while it probably sounds great, the price point is probably a bit higher than most audio enthusiasts who visit Amazon want to pay. If all you have to spend is about $250, you won't find better sound if you are listening for accuracy. Great recordings will sound realistic, lesser recordings will be revealed for what they are.....but don't miss the good stuff because some mediocre recordings hit the play list now and then. Highly recommended.
