This is a lovely wooden tortilla press made from Red Oak and Walnut wood that makes the checkboard pattern really stand out and look great. Its weight is pretty substantial, much less heavy than my cast iron traditional style tortilla presses. The press’ handle is attached to its joint by a screw and the 2 plates that make the ‘press’ have 2 hinges in the back attached with screws – hopefully none of these areas start loosening with use, as I’ve read some of the bad experiences from other reviewers as to workmanship in this regard.I haven’t yet used the press, but I’ve tested out its pressing action and the overall construction, including the screws holding it together. Everything is secure at this point and it’s stable, no teetering or sliding about on the countertop. As someone who’s made homemade tortillas for many, many years (with cast iron presses), I’ve always cut open a gallon-size freezer bag and placed it inside the press to use with pressing each tortilla…I’ve never placed tortillas on the actual surface of the press and will be continuing that same practice with this wooden press. So, I’m not at all concerned about the potential for dough/masa sticking to the interior of the press. My freezer bag method has always made pressing tortillas a breeze and fast with very minimal cleanup needed afterwards. This is a nice artisanal looking piece, that I hope functions over time as good as it looks! If it turns out not working well in my experience, I will update this review.

This is such a beautiful folding cutting board, because it is not much else. I ordered one and it came broken, and I submitted a replacement and received the replacement so fast. I used the lever to smash my dough and on the second tortilla the lever broke off the base. The EXACT type of damage the first press came as. It’s so pretty, I don’t know if I should keep it as a cutting board, but I have plenty of those and no room on my counter. Breaks my heart.

A little after two weeks and only three uses this machine broke on my wife. While she was the machine to do some delicious tortillas my wife pulled down on the with regular force the handle snapped and broke from the main body of the machine. Also, something very concerning that I need to share is that when the handle broke off my wife ended up hurting her left ring finger. Luckily she did not fracture or cut her finger in the incident of the machine breaking. With that being said I cannot recommend this machine. They should’ve used metal bolts to screw on the handle instead of using wood pins. I feel that with some metal bolts or screw would’ve secured the handle much better. This only creates a week point and it’s not designed to last. Yes, this is fixable but not all people have the capacity or time to fix it. For a little over $50 this should be more durable.I will be reaching out to the seller and see how he responds. I will update you guys after I hear back from seller.

I wish I could give us a great review. Unfortunately I can’t it arrived damaged upon looking at it and seeing that it was just dowels that held it together. I was not thrilled with it. I sent it back that same day. I wish I could give it a zero because that’s what I feel. It deserves.

Very generous size, for making small, medium, to large tortillas. Make homemade wraps in a cinch, with your favorite recipes and flavoring combinations, and throw in some herbs to infuse the tortilla with bursting flavors. So easy to use, even your kids can help. This is solid wood, it is crafted with artisanal skills. No need to buy flavorless tortillas from the store, with preservatives, with this tool you can make them anytime. Any leftover dough just toss in the fridge for a week, or freezer for up to 6 months, pull out, and let sit at room temperature for a little while before use. The room-temperature dough works best. This tool is going to last for years, a gentle wipe-down after use is all that is needed. Do not soak in water. May need occasional oilings with plain mineral oil as needed through the years to keep the condition of the wood mostly waterproof and nonstick. You can look it up on how to care for it, or read the booklet for more tips.
