Works good. I use this for wire mapping cables suspected of having connection issues. It's rechargeable so you don't have to run to the store for batteries. Just plug it in and go get a cup of coffee.

Bought this after returning a cheaper one that constantly gave me random faults. Test once and okay then test the same cable again and it fails. I also like that this is rechargeable.

I had a cable tester that finally gave up the ghost, so I ordered this to replace it. It's SO much better - no battery replacements, works with shielded and unshielded cables and tests both signals and ground. I've tested them with 100' cables and it works well - pretty sure it won't matter how long the cables are as long as they don't exceed the network length maximums. Very solid and easy to use. Small enough to keep in your tool bag or pouch.

In my house everything that can be hardwired is hardwired. Most of the devices on wifi are phones or IOT. When you have dozens of drops around the house, and adding more as needed, a simple continuity tester is mandatory.Why isn't this device talking? Why is it syncing at 100M vs 1G? Did I accidentally wire this jack A vs B? Where does this unmarked wire go? Is this patch cord still good? All the questions this cable tester can answer in seconds. It'll take longer to retrieve it from your garage vs. testing the cable.I had my old cable tester for about ten years, and it had similar functions. What ultimately ruined it was a leaky 9V battery. That isn't a concern with this unit, because its rechargeable by USB-C.If it prevents a single trouble call, or prevents you from buying a couple of patch cords, it has paid for itself.
