For the few times I've used this so far, it works well on documents or photos.

Unit will not charge. Even after being plugged in overnight the unit blinks and shuts down.

This scanner did not work right and turned off after each scan. Would not scan while plugged in. I was able to scan at most 2 pieces in a sitting. I wanted this for scanning pictures from my photo albums but it is crap. I would rather stick to using a big bulky non portable scanner.

I bought this to replace, after 10 years, a VuPoint PDS-ST450. Except for the more stylish wand and that it will take a 32GB sim card (not included) I have not found any differences from the older model. They both fit the same docking station. Like the other, it is very simple to use and very convenient. The same cable from the docking station to the computer will power it and upload scans. It does come with a wall plug AC adapter for chargingI have only two issues to take with it: 1) The rollers will sometimes not grip glossy paper, so it will not feed 2) It is difficult to get a straight feed with the docking station, as the rollers do not always get even traction when the paper is inserted. The biggest plus is its size and convenience.

Let me tell you how this scanner has changed the way I do things! I used to have to photograph or scan my handdrawn line work into the computer to digitally edit it with a giant clunky printer/scanner. Now I can just use this little beauty. I'm on the road travelling a lot with my art and NEEDED a space saver. This fit the bill! Higher DPI than most flatbed scanners, it's perfect for when I need to scan photos my clients gives me or references of pieces I'm working on. Easy set-up too! Make sure you buy a micro SD card for sure, it just makes it easier. I matched this with my PocketJet printer and it keeps everything working like a large office space but from the pocket of my backpack. Love it!

I got the refurbished version and it is fantastic! As a college student, with a case of "hoarder syndrome", I wants to keep all of my notes. The amount of papers I had was getting crazy. This device allowed me to scan all my notes, and random things I didn't want to throw away, into neatly organized files on my computer and/or online storage. It came with everything they said it would.Having it detachable is fantastic for scanning textbook pages for tutoring and library books that cant be checked out. Its perfect because it has its own memory storage, micro SD card, so it doesn't have to be connected to a computer for the scan to be saved! This really is a students best friend, and I would recommend it to everyone. I freaking love it!
