Update 12/20/23. The product is tripping a circuit breaker when not in use, just plugged in. This after numerous other problems I have had with it that required repairs. Poorly designed or I got a defective oven.PROS: Stainless steel interior, simple to use, low 13 in. profile that fits under upper cabinets. I love the Convection Roast feature that alternates microwave and convection heating to cook and crisp quickly and efficiently. It also multi-tasks by allowing the timer to run e.g, steeping tea for 3 min., while microwaving oatmeal for 1 min. 30 sec. (my last microwave wouldn’t do that).CONS: The only regret. I have is I should have bought the Cafe model with Auto Roast and Auto Bake features.I spent some time researching convection microwave ovens. I owned a Sharp conventional microwave for over 20 years of reliable service but the paint had worn off the inside where the turn table rolls making the inside look dirty. So I knew a stainless steel interior was a must for my next microwave. I also wanted at least 1000 watts of power for speedy heating. I thought a convection option would be a good idea to brown or crisp soggy microwaved food as a follow-up step.I researched the Emerson, Toshiba, Samsung, Sharp and GE convection microwaves. My wife ruled out the Emerson and Toshiba right away due to aesthetics and they were also on the low end market. The Samsung, Sharp, and GE all fit our criteria EXCEPT for height. The Sharp and the Samsung are 15 in and 16 in high respectively and require additional inches of ventilation space above for cooling. Our upper cabinets are 16 in above the counter. The GE height is 13 in and requires 3 in of ventilation space so it was the only one that would fit our requirements.Reading the one and two star reviews for the GE concerned me however and almost deterred me from buying a convection microwave. But rationally speaking I have to add a few thoughts about the outlying low ratings. One review described problems with the turntable. My turntable operates normally. Other reviews described unusually long convection cook times. I think these reviewers forget this is a 120V counter top oven, not a floor standing, 220V, 40A production range! I use it as intended, for heating and browning leftovers and for modest microwaveable dinners and snacks, not for cooking holiday meals! I could go on but I think you get the point.Although the Profile model has some basic sensor cook and defrost settings, consider the Cafe model if you want to use full Auto roast Auto bake features to take the guesswork out of cook time and reduce exploded, over-microwaved food events!Update: After using this microwave for about a year I would like to add a few more comments.1. If the door open button is pushed too hard, it will stick in the depressed position. It hasn’t happened to me but it has happened to my wife a few times. The button has to be gently pried back out with a flat tool (butter knife works) and having to do this is annoying. We have learned to push it gently and it doesn’t stick anymore.2. The broil and convection heating elements are a bit underpowered, even considering it is a 120v countertop unit. I have used electric fry pans with a broiler element built into the lid and recall it getting red hot on the broil setting. The heating element in this unit faintly begins to glow when set to full hot broil and then cycles cooler.3. One of the wheels on the rotating carousel had a flat spot causing the plate to bump as it rotated. GE replaced it at no charge.I took away a star for these deficiencies.

I recently bought this GE Profile Convection Microwave & Convection Oven without reading any of the reviews prior to purchasing. After buying it I then saw how many of the reviews describe horrible experiences and I wondered what I was getting into. Many of the other reviews on microwave ovens as well that I read also seemed troubling. There are apparently many unhappy owners. I have used my new oven and I am very happy I have used microwave ovens over the past 40 years and I likee all of the units I owned or have experienced. Prior to this purchase I owned a similar GE microwave for 15 years. It worked fine for all those years but it was beginning to show wear on some the interior painted surfaces. I thought time for it to be replaced. Recently it developed rusty spots on the interior walls of the cooking chamber. I wanted to get a replacement have a nice stainless steel interior that would stay free of any rust. I saw that I could get this newer GE Profile model that not only had a stainless interior but nicely operated with very similar button operations to my old unit. In addition it included new options in the form of an overhead broiler as well convection baking and normal baking cooking modes. I thought these new features would be nice additions for me. I have experience in using convection ovens in a bigger built-in oven. However, for most of my every day uses this smaller microwave oven size is perfect. Not to small and not too big. I have a digital toaster and I would not make toast in anything but the toaster. Just as I would not make hot chocolate or melt butter in any anything but the Microwave. Different tools for different jobs.I have used the built in humidity sensor microwave cooking mode for warming up my coffee. So far everything has worked just fine and I am glad that was not scared away by the many reviews. If my opinion changes dramatically I will come back an update this review.

We purchased this convection/microwave oven for use as a small oven/broiler for use on small meals and for an extra oven when we have large groups. I was waiting for my kitchen remodel so it took me 3 weeks to start to use it. I meticulously went through and used each function. The Microwave works as advertised. It is 1000 watts instead of the 1200 watts I had in my other micro but it works fine. My problem came when using the convection oven and the broiler. The convection oven does not come up to temperature. I set it for 350 and after testing with an oven thermometer, it reaches only 250. I tried to accommodate this by raising the temperature to 400 and at 400 it came up to 350. I don't know how to adjust the time to accommodate the difference in temperature but I know I need to check it each time I start baking. I do this with convection bake and convection roast. I think that the oven does not hold the temperature while baking. I have had to continue to extend time to have my baked items complete. Convection should take a shorter time. I have not been able to get the broiler to work at all. It does go on but doesn't get hot enough to broil as promised. We had the repairman out from GE and he said that all things check out according to his form. I'm not sure what to do now. It is a very expensive unit and I am disappointed with the results and GE.
