Lens hoods extend and shade the end of lens preventing unwanted light straying into the lens. Since the end of the lens is extended, you get the benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Each dedicated lens hood was specifically created to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for. Photographers can easily attach the lens hood on the dedicated bayonet mount, and after usage mount the lens hood on the lens in reverse for a compact storage solution.

Un peu cher mais convient bien pour mon caméscope numérique Canon legria. J'ai acheté le pare-soleil pour faire la vidéo à la mer, et j'étais très satisfait.

Here it is - the best review of this item - Fotodiox Lens Hood for Video Camera (43mm) ... As you can see on the attached photo, this fits nicely on my CANON VIXIA HF-R60. And, yes, I do like the cover that comes with the hood - if noting else, it adds another layer of protection. Some of the reviews indicated that this was smaller than they thought it would be ... How big did these people expect it to be? Its nearly 1/4 the size of the entire camera! I also read that people didn't like the black areas seen along the sides (the side of the hood) when panning quickly ... REALLY - put the lens hood on correctly! If you don't know which way it goes then you probably don't need to use it. Having said this, if you do move vertically very quickly, you will "catch" a glimpse of the side of the hood on either the top or bottom of the frame - this goes away as soon as the camera image "catches up" with where it is filming - bottom line, you really have to move at a rapid pace to see this effect.Nothing more to say - it is a piece of plastic shaped to be a lens hood for palm held video camera.

Superservice!

You'll break your lens if its a plastic one on a modern camera.Plastic thread theta is a little challenging to get on. That's ok. The cover is an orquid fit and will eventually break your lenses alignment due to the force needed to put the cap on.

This lens hood does exactly what it is supposed to do and is a great value-- much more reasonable than name brand. You have to line up the hood manually-- it doesn't click into place or anything, so you have to make sure you screw it in so that it lines up correctly and does not obscure any of the camera's field of view. I don't consider that a drawback, because it's very easy to do and requires maybe 15 seconds worth of effort.Overall this thing is just a piece of plastic that is shaped just right. Why pay more than you have to?

This product works like it should but I wasn't really expecting such a cheap look. I guess you get what you pay for. I was hoping for a deal and it seems I may have spent to much for the cheap plastic. I was expecting it to be of better quality construction and look nicer than it does. I thought it would be of the same quality as the lens hoods I've gotten for my 35mm camera. It was not at all close to that kind of quality. Again, it does do the job for now, but wondering just how long it's going to last with the threads as small as they are on the camera, I'm guessing probably no long if it takes much of a bump at all.

If what you are attempting to do is make your mini-camera look bigger, bulkier, and more impressive...this may help. If you are trying to block stray light from flaring your lens, you may just want to hold your hand next to the lens or invest in a CP filter...

Excellent quality for a moulded plastic part..100-% quality..all over the piece../I used this Lens Hood on a modification(Canon zr800)..which does not allow a 43mm Filter application..I mounted a Tiffen Haze-1 Clear Filter and attached the Lens Hood..accordingly..per 43mm/ONE NOTE--on the adjustment ring..this allows you to tighten your assembly to the mounting point..use a very bright light too check that there is no small GAP..as the adjustment ring--can be off-BY a THREAD..the adjustment ring should spin freely--on its way to the bottom of the Lens Hood..if you feel a slight(TIGHT)..push on the spin..its off by a thread..re-check and apply your correction--the FIT is Perfectly..FLAT..just a great plastic part for your Consumer Camcorder(43mm).

I received this item in a very timely manner and it was exactly what I ordered and it fit the Sony Handicam perfectly. It did very well at shadowing some of the direct sunlight off the cameras lens and when used on a snowy day helped keep moisture from showing up in the video's. The only problem I had with this lens hood was that under some circumstances (most likely when the camera was auto-focusing on close objects) a curved shadow would show up along the left or right sides of the video (almost like vignetting). At times it was hardly noticeable to some people who viewed the video, but I knew it was there. I also ordered a 30mm to 37mm step-up ring for this same camera to use a wide angle converter and I'm thinking of ordering a hood in 37mm so the part of the hood that is casting the shadow is larger thus eliminating the dark shadow. I had also hoped for a matching black hood cover like the picture but instead got a white cover that makes the whole setup look a bit gaudy. But thats a minor factor and not a "deal breaker."

Pros:- Hood shields my lens from the rays very well. Sun bursts and flares are kept to a minimum, unless I want them in the shot. (Yes flares can look cool when applied correctly.)- I have a UV filter (43mm threads, just the cheap Zeikos one) sandwiched between the hood and my camera. All components fit snugly.- Hood protects my lens from foreign objects. Example: I was standing above a kid who was drawing. He threw his hands up excitedly, while still holding the pen. The hood deflected his hand and pen, and probably saved my lens from nasty scratches or cracks.- Hood makes my camera look more expensive. Call this shallow, but be honest: most clients think the smaller your camera, the less-pro you are. For some reason clients are impressed when your camera has a hood, and the more impressed your clients are, the more business you get. Go figure, but it's true.- The price. Can't get any better than this.- It's black. I.e. it matches my camera. (Panasonic HS300)Cons:- It's pretty tiny for a hood. Looks bigger in the pic. Just double check the dimensions if you care about this.- The plastic threads don't twist on/off very smoothly. Not a deal breaker for me. I just have to be a little patient when twisting it on.- The overall plastic construction is pretty flimsy, but this is a given for this price.- It comes with a lens cap with a cute little lanyard. Really? Not sure when I'd ever use this. Again not a deal breaker... just a silly addition.
