This is the perfect size to prepare meals for one yo two people. As single individual it allows me to o cook and enjoy those dishes I love at a smaller scale. The Dutch oven is well made which I a bonus. Love it!!

I've had this for a year now and it still looks pretty new. It's great for braising low and slow in the oven!

I bought this small casserole specifically for cooking rice and oatmeal for two. It serves this purpose well. It should also do a fine job when cooking veggies, sauces and soups. It has substantial weight for a 1.7 qt pot, as it should being cast iron. The quality control of the finish both inside and out is better than I've seen with Staub, which is saying a lot considering a similar sized rice cocotte from them is more than double the price on sale for what I paid for this pot. This little pot brings liquids to a boil quickly - quicker than my stainless steel pots of a similar size. The lid fits well and is heavy enough to keep in the steam. The handles on both the pot and lid are of adequate size and are comfortable to use. It retains heat very well. When cooking rice or oatmeal with an iron pot I turn the element off after a few minutes and leave the lid on until the grains are done. After cooking I noticed nice evenly spaced steam holes in the grain which indicates an even heat distribution pattern. There was a bit of sticking on the bottom but that cleaned up easy enough with a bit of a soak with soapy water. The colour is definitely not the same as is pictured online, but I see this as more of a blessing. The green I see on Amazon or on the Segretto website looks closer to a light minty green. The photos I have posted with this review shows that this Segretto 1.7 qt pot almost matches the colour of the Crockpot 3 qt Aqua dutch oven we also have. For us that is a good thing, but because of this I'd rate this pot 4.5 stars if I could because of this colour difference. Overall I am definitely more than happy with this purchase as it looks and performs quite well.

The Segretto 6 qt Dutch oven is a great value (I paid $72). The enameling is high quality, beautiful and seems durable (though I've only had the item for 3 weeks). The handles are nicely sized - easy for a man's hand or to handle with mitts (unlike Lodge handles). It is easy to clean with a perfect-fitting lid - just enough space to let some steam out whilst retaining heat. The lid also has those little basting stalactites whereas the Lodge and Amazon Basics lids do not. The item is made in China and that is not easy to find out without reading reviews. That said, it is good quality. My one small complaint is heat distribution - there should be a bit more cast iron in the bottom. Of course that adds weight and at 14 pounds, this pot is plenty heavy. I do have to chuckle when folks buy cast iron cookware and then complain about the weight of it :)
