Why did you pick this product vs others?:I was skeptical about getting this, but I took a chance and I'm so happy I did. Out of the box, it was ready to go - just pull the legs out and set it on a non slip surface. It came with additional scratching sheets so you're able to replace when needed.I've been working with our Havanese for a few hours off and on, he's slowly learning that it's not a mean nail file. I put a training treat under the removeable area and then placed the smaller board back down. It enticed him to scratch to get to the treat.Overall I'm glad that I ordered this. It's already made his front nails a little less raptor with just a few times scratching at it. For a dog his size and smaller, this is a good thing to have. Not sure how it would hold up to a dog that's bigger (he weighs 20 pounds for reference).Take your time and help your pupper understand that it's nothing to fear and make a game out of it!

If your dog does not enjoy having their nails clipped, then getting one of these is for you. It will take a bit of training to teach your dog to run their paw over the sandpaper. Just give lots of treats and praise. I built this onto their "shake" command.I had this board out in my living room and we'd do a swipe of the paw or two - give lots of treats and praise - and then move on to other fun stuff. Reward every attempt to touch the board. The board looks nice and the surface area is nice and big so your dog has lots of ways it can swipe its paw. You get extra sandpaper replacements, too. It stands up nicely and holds up to big dog paws hitting it.(I have also used a Dremel for their nails but this is my alternate method)

Not for big dog of 65lbs. Not heavy enough, no weight to wood, slides all over the floor. Ladder is senseless for scratching since door compartment opens in wrong direction for dog to fail nails. Door slides upwards not downwards to gain access to treats.

This has great potential! I love the sandpaper refills that they sent with it! Now just to train the dogs on how to use it! Wish me luck!
