OK, so these make great wire cutters, strippers and basic pliers. Beyond that, some of the advertised features are a bit suspect. You can, in fact, strip romex jacket with them, but the built-in voltage detector isn't as reliable as a stand-alone tool for the same purpose. Note that you also have to be touching a metal strip in the handle for the voltage detector to work. Since it is not insulated, I question the safety of these pliers as a voltage detector. Use them for their mechanical function, but don't trust your safety to them.

Overall seems to be a good tool. However, I don't feel confident trusting the power indicating light. It seems as if this is erratic in its operation at times.

I ordered this to replace a wire-stripper I’d misplaced. While I’d not describe it—nor expect it to be for the price ($20 at the time of this review)—as a premium quality tool it is significantly nicer than the one it replaces. The handle is reasonably comfortable and the cutting surfaces are sharp. I’d not realized when I ordered it that it has a power detection feature—while I can see it as handy for continuity testing, I’d never intentionally use it with a live wire, as to function, it requires one’s bare hand to be touching a metal strip in the handle. All in all, I’m happy with it.[Disclosure: I received this product for “free”—in quotes because the IRS considers the item’s retail value as taxable income for federal income tax purposes. There two parts to this amazing toolStripper cutter slicer twister and needle nose part that is made out of high carbon steel is machined to perfection.Wire cutting part is great improvement and this is first time i am seeing this approach of multitool. Cutting edges on cutting part have slight bend to secure cutting wire better and to pinch wire strands together.This is an excellent approach. I must mention that the cutting part is super sharp and has zero tolerance and cuts made with these pliers are superb.It is the same for stripping parts, very sharp, good angle and precise gauging. also note that due to an aggressive angle you can use a bigger hole and still strip insulation without cutting off wire strands.Pinching part is very precise and well machined and you can use it as tweezers.On the handle there are more improvements, like wire twister. In North America solid copper wires are obsolete and used less and less as stranded wires are more economical and easier to work. I can see this part of the pliers being useful on a job where you have to twist a lot of solid copper wires to join them with marr.On the other handle there is splitter. This is very handy when you have to split stranded wire up to gauge 4 i would say. Blade in splinter is very sharp. you take wire push through and split insulation in two, while wire strands will slide beside the blade.The best new feature on this amazing multi tool is slicer. One handle on pliers has a blade sticking half way.you grab wire you are slicing close pliers slide and insulation is sliced .All blades are same orientation and you will have to hold plies so that letters and labels on pliers are facing you.This pliers also have voltage light. It does go green when prier tip is placed near low voltage. How ever i was not able to get beep of to go red. I think they are made for 220v. They still can detect voltage but not like its described on amazon page.Overall amazing all in one tool well made sharp useful and good quality material they are made of.

First of all, there is nothing wrong with this tool, it has an ergonomic design, is well balanced and made of high quality steel. I appreciate the included spare blade for the sheathing stripper however, there is no place to store it and it will get lost eventually. The test light is a nice feature too, it works on 12 VDC and on 120 VAC. It lights up when a current is present, it does not measure the actual amount of electricity, for that you'll need an actual multimeter. Also, the packaging is in Chinese only and there are no instructions included. A novice could have a hard time figuring out how to use the tool, but then, maybe that person should call a professional anyway.

This is a unique electricians pliers with the ability to detect live wires. It is a great concept... I just wish the tool was a bit smaller and compact. It has lots of useful features that are built into the pliers. I like that they are spring loaded for one handed use. The tool is robust and has comfortable handles. The battery is already installed, so the tool is good to use out of the packaging.
