Solid drop forged steel and Acme threads as used in vises for maximum strength.They call these light duty but they are much stronger than the average aluminum and plastic bar clamps, also heavier.Think of them as a heavy C-clamp of adjustable size from zero to 12 inches.Very well made with a smoothly sliding but solidly holding clamping screw arm.They should be very useful for any gluing, welding or cutting of metal or wood.

Solid steel clamp - I view this style more for welding, but with some rubber pads or duct tape it could be used for woodworking or other projects. It's all steel, with a beefy acme thread. It doesn't have "teeth" to lock the sliding adjustment, but still locks in place well just by friction. It's a little stretch to get it open to 12 inches - you are halfway off the thread at that point - would be just fine going to 11.5 inches or so.
