I liked the simplicity of this design, and the fact that it appeared I could easily replace the fan if needed in the future.However, the design of this product is completely faulty. It's clearly intended to sit on a flat surface, however when doing so there is not enough space underneath the fan for it to pull the air it needs to spin at the speed it wants. This puts strain on the fan motor and causes it to make a pulsing noise which is quite annoying. I tried setting the whole thing up on top of some blocks so it could pull more air, and when doing so the fan spins visibly faster (and you can feel the added air flow too). However, even still the fan was too noisy for my taste. I confirmed that my unit was not faulty by contacting Silverstone tech support, who responded within 48 hours. They claimed everything was working per design and did not suggest any remedies for what I perceive to be a problem. Thankfully I kept all the packaging and original box and easily returned the item.Finally, Amazon lists the product dimensions incorrectly. I was specifically looking for one that my laptop would not overhang. Amazon's dimensions are for the box it comes in, not for the unit itself. If you still want to buy this (really?) check with Silverstone for the actual dimensions.

I had a Zalman NC-1000 for many years, which I found a very good product except for a few things: lacking fan output and relatively high noise for its paltry output. This cooler is MUCH better than the Zalman. There is a lot of airflow and it is SO quiet. I like the slick design, and it is very stable. Highly recommended.
