About this item

  • Recommended Use: bike maintenance
  • Manufacturer Warranty: 1 year

Working on disc brakes can be somewhat intimidating to the home mechanic but it really just distills down to having the knowing how to do the job and having the right tools. Shimano provides excellent instructions online and its choice to spec mineral oil instead of DOT fluid means one less thing to worry about if things go awry. So if you're installing new hydraulic lines or cutting down the lines that came stock on your bike, the TL-BH62 Disc Brake Hose Cutter from Shimano will make the job way less daunting. This two-in-one tool makes quick and precise cuts to hydraulic brake housing, then seats the insert hose barbs in the housing's cut end. The tool comes with a replacement bladeensuring that you'll always get a clean cut.

The tool worked perfectly except when I clamp the hose to insert the pin into hose. It worked perfectly on one but the second one it didn’t grip in place and couldn’t insert pin to end of hose by 3mm.

It’s shocking how cheaply made this tool is. The blade is held in place by nothing but a plastic nub. When you press the blade assembly to cut a hose, the nub fails to hold the blade in place.I was so excited to finally streamline by Emonda’s excessive hoses. This really messed up my flow.

This is the perfect tool for trimming hose, & installing barbs quickly. Just do not get mineral oil in the hose channel.

Blade jammed on first cut. Opened the blade shell and saw that the blade was not aligned. Therefore it penetrated the surrounding plastic and jammed. The press portion worked fine for installing the barb.I think it‘s a good devise. Maybe mine was just a one-off on the blade.

If you adjust/replace brake hose cabling then you MUST have this tool. Sure, you can cut the hose manually, but this unit does more than cutting. It helps with installation of the tiny metal ends, etc. Worth the price if you're going to install more than a few cables in your lifetime.
