This does exactly what its designed for. Works perfectly triggering all the types of pocket wizards I have.Note the one I received was the european frequency one.

After the UPS guy left, I opened the boxes and laid the pieces out. Reading the instructions, I installed the radio module and battery, gathered up my Flex TT5 and one SB-600 flash to get everything set up. At about that point, I came across a piece of paper that shows that this module will not work with Mini TT1, Flex TT5 and a few other PW parts. I went back to read the online description and that was never mentioned. I was less than happy but then I read more of the reviews here and it seems possible. After watching a single video on PW TV, I had progress but one thing that I didn't catch anywhere else except in passing in another Amazon review is that the flash itself MUST be in Manual. Once I made that little change, the Sekonic meter will fire the flash.Setting up the Flex 5TT:Using the PW Utility, connect the Flex TT5 and deselect (remove the check in the box) for "Use ControlTL for Receive Channel" and then, set the channel to be used.Setting up the Nikon Flash:Turn on the flash. Press the mode button to select the "M", not "TTL".Setting up the light meter:Assuming everything is installed. Press & Hold the Mode button and turn the Jog Wheel Clockwise until the little box is over the 3rd Lightning bolt (3rd from left). Release the Mode button. Turn the Jog Wheel to select the channel set in the Flex 5TT. Press & Hold the Mode button again and turn the Jog Wheel one Clockwise, one click. If the flash is turned on, mounted on the Flex 5TT and the Flex 5TT is turned on, press the Measurement Button on the side of the light meter and you should have a light reading. This beats spending over $150 for the newer radio module that will do ControlTL!4 Stars only because the product description should include the same information that's found inside the box and the provided documentation doesn't reflect reality. Otherwise, this would be a 5 star review.Good luck, I hope this helps.

I wasnt going to buy this thing because it used to cost something like $120 and I normally use cheap Cactus triggers instead of the comparitively super expensive Pocket Wizards, but I started using the studio facilities at school and all of their stuff is Pocket Wizard based. I found that trying to carry around both a full PW transmitter along with the light meter is a real pain whether or not they're connected with a sync cable or not. Either both hands are full or one hand is fumbling with two unwieldy devices.Still, I was not willing to spend over $100 for this. However this cumbersome situation was getting really annoying and I started looking around to see if I could find a better price. When I noticed that I could get the thing for $65 I was like "heck yea". I was pretty sure I was going to be using other people's Pocket Wizards enough that this would end up being worth it, even if I don't own any PWs myself. So far I haven't done much more than test it a few times, but on the L-358 I'm using configuration is quick and easy, and it works. I wasn't able to tell from the documentation alone, but once installed it was immediately obvious that the channel configuration was essentially just another "mode" just like corded or uncorded flash are modes. So basically when you're flipping through modes with the dial and mode button, the channel configuration mode comes up one click before the actual transmit/meter mode. This means that there's no funky stuff with holding down multiple buttons and turning the dial, etc, so setting the channel is very quick, easy, and it's obvious how to do it. If you hand the meter to an assistant who's never seen it before and tell them how to switch the modes, it will be immediately obvious to them how to set the channel with little or no additional explanation. While the transmitter is "only" supposed to have a 30m range as opposed to the 500m or whatever ridiculous range that the actual PW transmitters have, this is several times what I need for the tiny studio bays I'm normally limited to and it's probably enough for the majority of situations (but hey, I'm new to this so I don't really know how big sets might get). If you occasionally need more than a 30m range then you can always go back to using a regular transmitter at times, as annoying as it is. If you always need more range then perhaps this thing isn't so great. Note that the studio I'm using isn't large enough to test the range on this thing, and I'm not yet allowed to check out location kits that I can use outside, so I haven't been able to test the actual range of my unit. For all I know maybe it works from further away but just fails to trigger half the time when too far away or something. If I had to pay $120 for this then I'd probably give it 3 stars just due to expense (though compared to the cost of PWs I guess it isn't that horrible), but for $65 the price no longer annoys me so much and it's an easy 5 stars. Now if only they'd make some module like this for the Cactus or some other cheaper brand of trigger then I'd be thrilled. At least my Cactus transmitter is rather tiny and not as annoying to carry around cabled to the meter.

I had the light meter for quite a while, and finally decided to get this transmitter module. I am so glad I did! It makes EVERYTHING so streamline, simple, and easy to work with my PocketWizards! It syncs effortlessly, and is a lifesaver when the flash is too far away to trigger and hold the light meter in the correct place at the same time. Great product!

I bought this thinking it was FCC compliant. What came was an EC one so I could not get it to work with my FCC sekonic light meter

I had a hard time getting this device to pass the initial setup. Taken from a review on another site:It works like a charm, just DON"T read the manual. There was something definitely LOST in translation because the manual isn't clear as to how you get out of 'setting' mode and into 'measuring' (in this case triggering) mode.To exit setting mode - after you set your channel - you need to: "Turn the jog dial one click clockwise while pressing the 'Mode' button.""
