Great product. Good range, nice and clear. We use them for the kids on the estate. We are in contact with them at any time. These are not toys, perfect to stay in contact with the kids on the property.

I've been disappointed with Retevis products in the past, however not with this RT86 set of 6. Actually pleasantly surprised at the ruggedness and quality of these units and the base charger. They are well constructed and have a little bit of weight to them. They are actually attractive professional looking radios and feel good in your hand. I like the fact the display turns off after a few seconds and the display is not glass covered, the channel id, signal strength indicator are sort of shown from behind the actual ABS plastic. So it would be difficult to scratch or crack as a glass or plastic lens would. The description does not indicate that the radios provide GMRS frequencies but they do. I've reprogrammed mine to cover all the repeater channels and the high power GMRS simplex channels. The power output is exactly as they claim, each channel is putting out between 10.5 - 11.5 watts of power. Never have I tested a radio that actually puts out more power than advertised. The antenna's seem rugged and the programming/audio ports are protected with a solid screwed on cover. The PTT button has a definable click when you push it. Using Chirp software you can program the frequencies and basic settings. I used a Btech 2 prong programming cable and it worked. The set is a little pricey but for real commercial quality it's worth a few extra bucks. We will be using ours for family off-roading and looking to purchase extension microphones speakers. Good job Retevis on this model of radios. I can't comment on charging rate and battery longevity or range as we haven't put them to real world test yet. But we all know range is subjective to the environment your working with anyway. My only complaint and it's minor, is the channel selector is right below the PTT, so if you are not paying attention you can inadvertently or unintentionally change the channel.

Amazing range with the extends antennas. After buying and returning 3 different kinds of radios we got these. The big test was skiing at Timberline on Mt. Hood in Oregon. Reached from the lodge to the summit run no probably. Worth every penny!

This package includes six radios! These are a little more expensive than your average radio, but they are professional-grade radios worth the price. They come with a 2600 mAh long-life battery and a tough case and belt clip. The battery is USB chargeable, or you can use the included cradle charger. All you have to do is turn it on and turn the knob to the channel you want. The radio announces the selected channel, and the display lights up on the front to show you the selected channel and the charge state of the battery. The display turns off after a few seconds to conserve battery power. The radio can be programmed and customized using industry-standard Chirp software. What I really like is output power is actually "high power". I measured 9.23W @ 432.007. Almost double what the typical UV-5R puts out. Truly a workhorse and well worth buying for your team.

I am very happy with the Retevis RT-86 two-way radios. They are actually better than I had expected. These are 10 watt (out put) radios, this was a surprise to me. My Kenwood professional radios are only 5 watt, so thats what I expected from these. Yes, the 10W does make a difference in the range of the radios. These are built with rugged use in mind. The design of the 'no show' screen helps to make sure the screen is protected and can handle the heavy use. I am unsure with the antenna because it is a 'hard' antenna compared to a rubber whip style antenna. It concerns me that it has no give and can break. But, this antenna allows the range you get. They put alot into the design and build of this antenna. The battery life has been great so far and I have yet to run the battery all the way down. So I cannot say the exact hours of use. I like that the charger base is powered by USB. This allows you to charge these on the go by car or my favorite part, you can charge them using a power bank. If you purchase a cable you are able to program these radios yourself. This also allows you to change and add options along with changing frequencies.Overall, I am very pleased with these radios and very excited to use these for many years. The price is more than fair for everything that you are getting.

These radios are marketed as 10 watt UHF radios. I found on the meter, in United States allowable frequencies, these were more like 7.5-8 watts max. I didn't know these down any starts because they still got reports from a repeater 25 miles away as "Full Quieting" into the repeater. Of course, mileage may vary, but tuned to the Amateur Radio UHF frequencies we use in the area, these radios performed very well. I had to test just for science and they do just as well on GMRS. I can 100% recommend these radios.

We ordered the Retevis RT862 Way Radios to replace the Very old Motorola 2 Meter radios that we use on site, working on High Rise Construction projects, dependable communication is a must. The Retevis RT862 are a bit smaller than the old Motorola's with about the same weight, the antenna is a bit taller. The Frequency Band of the RT862 works very well, better than the 2 Meter Band.Retevis has done a wonderful job with the design and construction that they used on the RT862 Radio Family. The Radio housing is Very durable, they take a beating on the Job daily and keep on working like they did on day 1.Honestly, I would have to say that these Retevis Radios are Rugged, Very Dependable, Affordable, and Reliable. I would give them an Overall Rating of a Full Five Stars Across the Board. One Very Nice Product.
