About this item

  • Designed to work with all chains including single speed and 5-11 speed derailleur chains
  • Investment cast steel
  • CT-3.2 not peen Campagnolo chain rivets

Product Description

A shop favorite updated to work on all chains including single-speed and all multi-speed, 5 to 12-speed derailleur chains. Because of the tremendous force needed to remove chain pins, our Chain Tool is made from investment cast steel.
NOTES: The CT-3.2 will not peen Campagnolo 11-speed chain rivets (see CT-4.3 or CT-6.3). The shelf fastener sizing is preset to allow easy adjustment from one width chain to another—any attempt to lock the shelf in place will result in damage to the tool.

From the Manufacturer

A shop favorite updated to work on all chains including 1/8" and 3/16" single speed and 5-11 speed 3/32'" derailleur chains.

Of all my bike wear-parts, the chain seems to show the signs of wear fastest. So I change my chain every four to five months to keep my shifting smooth and my rides trouble free. This Park chain tool saves me about $50 on shop costs every time I change chains and I don't have to leave the bike in the shop for a day or two. The tools is easy to use - a tip - bend a five inch piece of coat-hanger wire at both ends to keep the chain ends close to each other when you're re-assembling/re-pinning the chain. The tool looks well built. A good hand tool like this one is a pleasure to use.

30 euro spesi bene.

Park Tool is a chain breaker is one of those tools you'll have around forever. It's well made and easy to use. It doesn't require a lot of effort. I do recommend putting some type of lubricant on the threads as it does make it thread much easier.

I repair/rebuild junked bikes and distribute them to charities, so I use all my bike tools pretty heavily. Having used numerous lesser chain breaks, including the Park ct-5, this one is great for the shop. Minimal effort to push any pin out. Link alignment can be so problematical and troublesome with cheaper, lesser chain breaks. Wish I had bought it sooner.

I should have purchased this Park Tool Chain tool to begin with. Instead I went through two big box store brands that broke when I needed it most. I then ordered this Park Tool chain tool and will probably never have to buy another one. The quality is superb, and easy to use. Don't waste your money with other brands, buy the best tool first if want a quality chain tool.

Great tool. Easy to use and very sturdy. Park tools are always a little pricy, but well made. And because they are made in the USA it's worth it to me.

Like most other Park Tool products this chain tool is, in my opinion, high quality, heavy for it's size and well designed. I've used it on 2 of my chains and worked like a charm. It's always nice to use a tool that is well made, with a good design. I honestly don't know why some have had problems and even broken pins while using this. I had no problems pushing the pins out with this tool. They came out very easily and very smooth. I can see if you don't align the tool up correctly with the pin you can break the pin. This is probably what happened. Either way I'm very happy with this tool even though I'm only a home mechanic. This tool will last a life time if taken care of.

Park Tool ct-3.2. I was a little nervous after reading reviews about breaking and bending the pin. I bought two of the 2 packs of extra pins (so I had 4 extra pins). I have done about a dozen chains now with this tool and have had no problems at all, still on the original pin and it looks fine, straight and true. I have used it on multi speed chains, single speed chains, and half link chains, it worked fine on everyone. The only chain I can think of I haven't used it on is a skip tooth chain, so I can't comment on that. The body of the tool is nice and heavy, threads were very smooth and fine, plastic coating on the tee handle, this is a nice tool that should outlast me. I don't know why there's the reviews about breaking the pin, my experience is just the opposite. Very happy with my purchase, I highly recommend.

Item arrived this morning, I had ordered it to fit a new chain i had bought when swapping from freewheel to freehub so went from 7 to 8 speed for now, swapping the front and rear mechs and probably the drive chain & a 10 speed cassette is definitely a job for summer, however the cheap chain tool i had could not split the new chain so ordered this, within 30 minutes i had fitted my new chain, cleaned the old and fitted to another bike replacing that chain and again in good old fashioned handme down style cut that chain to length (removing a few damaged links) and fitted to another bike, getting the oil of my hands with soap powder and washing up liquid was harder than fitting the chains thanks to this tools quality's, its designed right, oozes class & performs, the fact replacement drive pins are purchasable means its gonna last a life time regardless off what you need to put it through. a MUST have for any keen cyclist!

OK so you are saying what kind of hack would use a hammer and punch anyway? Well I just started building bikes, and modifying the ready built ones, so I didn't have a chain tool yet. But after a ten minute ordeal with a new chain on the bench with a punch and hammer, slipping and sliding, that put me over the edge. I ordered the Park tool. Its such a well built tool, and claims it will do most all the chains. I have only tried it on the left over piece of 1/8" chain that put me over the edge in the first place, and it worked flawlessly. I am very happy I made this purchase, and highly recommend this if you are looking for a quality tool, that will last a long time. Happy riding!

This Park Tools CT-3.2 is the 2012 update to the classic CT-3 that is found in thousands of bike shops across the world. What makes this chain breaker a great buy is the adjustable shelf that slides to accommodate everything from single speed chains to eleven speed Dura Ace and the new XTR chains. This tool also has an open design that lets the mechanic look in from above and see the chain tool pin. Also, because the shelf slides, it can accommodate large single speed and five speed chains all the way down to narrow 11 speed chains. However, this tool will not peen Campagnolo 11 speed chains (it will break them though for use with a Master Link). I am a bit of a collector for vintage bike tools and really prefer this tool over the following:Shimano TL-CN32 Pro - This is the 'master' chain tool from Shimano with the rosewood handles and $155 price tag. This tool is good but it will not break 11 speed chains (it needs to be updated). While I enjoy this tool, its handle is a bit large and harder to grasp than CT-3.2Campagnolo 11 Speed Chain Tool - No flaws, and works great (even for all Shimano and SRAM chains) if you can afford its $300 price tag. This is the only tool I am mentioning here that I dont own but I will ask Bill Gates how his is working out for him, next time we meet.Park Tools CT-4.3 - This is the 'master' chain tool from Park Tool which sells for about $49. Even though this is the deluxe model from Park, I actually prefer the adjustable chain plate of the CT-3.2. If the chain is larger (say, a eight speed chain), the 4.3 holds it well in its chamber, but if the chain is 11 speed, then it does not hold it as well. The design of the 4.3 also does not allow the mechanic to see the chain tool pin. Also, the 4.3 does not work at all with wider single speed and five speed chains. I also find that the vinyl coating of the 3.2 to be easier to grasp and turn than the plastic enlarged handles of the 4.2. The one upside it holds over the CT-3.2 is that it will break and peen Campagnolo 11 speed chains.Pedros Pro Chain Tool 2.0 - Really enjoyed this $45 tool when I first owned it, but the pins have a nasty habit of bending. The upper handles also are weak on mine and are wearing away.So far, after hundreds of chain repairs with the CT 3.2 or its older brother, the CT-3, no broken chain tool pins. The size and weight of the CT-3.2 also mean that it can easily fit in a Camelback or repair pouch. A final added bonus is that except for the replaceable chain pin, the rest of this model is actually manufactured by Park in Minnesota. For these reasons, the CT-3.2 is my daily go to chain breaker or maker.
