This Okiocam W1 doc-cam is like an evolved version of the traditional "old school" overhead projector! Previously, I would have had to reproduce or convert my presentation to multiple single-page media, like overhead transparency sheets or photocopied paper. Now, I can do that plus display and live-share printed text that would've been difficult to reproduce, like from a large book or old journal. Also, the Okio software allows me to make screenshots and record videos of what I'm displaying. The device size is compact and convenient to travel with, especially inside of a briefcase or laptop bag. Since it includes its own mini ring light with adjustable luminosity, I don't have to provide extra lighting. It was kind of Okio Labs to include a USB-C adapter with the unit. Also, the box is its own traveling and storage case with a handle!I can't wait for the chance to use this document camera on a live, online meeting. The one negative I must note is that although the quick start guide was Illustrated well, the instructions were extremely limited, forcing me to rely on intuition and guessing when first attempting to use this document camera. Since everyone isn't an experienced teacher or advanced presenter/speaker, it would be helpful to have operating instructions that give more guidance.

This document camera works nicely. The color is good, and I can adjust the document camera in multiple ways. I appreciate the automatic zoom for a crisp focus and the light. It was woth the buy in my opinion.

Pros:1. I’m really impressed with this document camera. It’s incredibly user-friendly and proves to be very functional for teaching and demonstrations. Whether you’re into classic paper-based teaching, art demonstrations, anatomy lessons, or just creating teaching videos, it handles everything with ease.2. The quality of the camera is spot-on for simple teaching tasks. It captures details well, making demonstrations more engaging and informative.3. It comes equipped with some really handy features, like adjustable lighting and zoom capabilities, which I find very functional. These additions make it versatile for various educational purposes.4. Setting it up is easy. Though, a heads-up, you might need to tweak some settings to integrate it seamlessly with other apps on your PC. But generally, it’s pretty straightforward.5. I can’t stress enough how much I appreciate its lightweight design. Comparing it to the bulky document cameras from years ago, this one is a game-changer. It’s so easy to move around, making it a fantastic tool for any teacher or lecturer aiming to enhance their demonstrations.Cons:1. If there’s one thing I wish it included, it would be a base or surface for placing papers or documents. It’s a minor hiccup in an otherwise excellent product, but having this feature would complete the experience.2. I wish it comes with more solid and durable material but I understand this may make it heavier.

I was expecting high quality resolution on the videos but that's not happened, I was trying to use it to recording videos for social media but I'm not happy with the quality of the videos, so for me this product is too expensive.Maybe is a good product if you're a teacher and want to make live video calls or something like that.

My brother is a lecturer at the university and I figured something like this may be of use to him in his lecturers or presentations or meetings. I was wrong, far superior technology exists. However, I did find a use for it in the house...Essentially I am using it as a old timey OHP and projecting photos onto the wall. The picture quality is great, yes it's a little hindered due to the magnolia painted bedroom wall, but that is not the fault of this projector/visualiser. Even things like text (magnolia wall not withstanding) is sharp and crisp. Back in my day, this sort of thing would have been amazing to use during presentations for my degree, but with the technology available now, it's difficult to see where something like this really fits in.Still, it does have its uses...

I’m very glad I ordered this camera. I haven’t used all the features yet, so I can’t speak to thinks like taking pictures or recording, but the software to move around and focus on the page is great. I do speech therapy via telepractice and this lets me use a lot of my physical materials, worksheets etc. that I use with in-person clients. If I could change wine thing, I’d make the light such that it maybe could come from another angle or something so it doesn’t create such brights spot/reflection on the materials I’m using. It would be fine for lighting a face in a meeting, but to light the document or whatever is on the table, it’s too bright. I can’t really use it. But great camera overall. Highly recommend it.

I've now reviewed both of the main Okiolabs document cameras, and this one is by far my favorite. Okiolabs makes document cameras that connect to your computer and appear in Zoom and other video apps as a second webcam. It's ideal for someone who is working remotely to teach an online course or producing training materials, as it aims down at a table and clearly shows the contents of a document or of objects on the table. If you were demonstrating a science experiment or producing a YouTube video about a craft, this would be ideal. My primary complaint about the S2 Pro was the limited height and focal length - it's designed to be a compact and portable camera, so I wasn't able to use it for more than about an 8.5x11 size of paper. This W1 solves that problem very thoroughly; it has a few extra inches of height, and the camera seems a lot more flexible in its ability to focus. Everything I aimed it at worked perfectly, and it covers (and illuminates) my whole work surface thoroughly with amazing image quality.I didn't think the S2 Pro was up to the task of being a webcam, but this camera definitely is. In fact, that's how I've been using it the most lately! You can flip up the camera head and you end up with an extremely high quality, very flattering webcam with a built in ring light. There's a hardware button to flip the image upside down if needed. I love being able to position the camera to an angle that's appropriate for calls, and it's been super helpful to be able to just rotate it down to present a document and then back up to be back on camera. While this is definitely on the pricier side, I think it's absolutely worth the price premium if you're setting up a fixed presentation area at your desk. The only reason I'd go with the S2 Pro would be if you wanted a camera for travel or if budget is very tight; otherwise, I think this model is more flexible and produces better image quality.
