The water in the pool at our condo was not consistent and on some days it felt cold. So we wanted a way to measure the pool's temperature and this little thermometer does just that. It could use larger numbers for ease of reading but by putting a mark (fingernail polish works) at the average temperature of our pool we can quickly determine if the heater is working correctly.

I opened the package and the duck's body was separated from the thermometer. Certainly was not inspected very closely before shipping it to me. I found some glue and glued it back together. Not a big deal, but I should not have to do that and now I just wait to see if the glue I used will hold up constantly submerged in water. Need better quality control.

Arrive on time... temp is bery visable . My only issue is The ‘Duck’ floats but so does the thermometer .. so it doesnt hang down onto the water. I m glueing a washer to the bottom to give it more weight so it will stand upriight. Little things.

I take it to the pool where I do aerobics with all the other old birds and we like to know what the pool temp is. For some reason we never believe the pool supervisor. It swims with us. Lately my husband has been taking it because he swims earlier and then he takes the temp and posts it on facebook so we know whether we want to get into that water or not. Picky old birds, ain't we? The duckie is fun, but the Fahrenheit scale is very difficult to read. it has to be on just the right angle to see it. Worse than taking my kids' temperatures when they had a fever. So we kind of slightly turn it and tillt our heads and hold our tongues just the right way and sometimes we can tell the temperature. But not too precisely.

Received the rubber duck pool thermometer and placed in the pool. It was displaying a temp of 90 degrees, which seemed wrong. Waited one day, checked again...92, so i placed old pool thermometer back into the pool to check what the temp really was...it's 74...NOT 92. Then the rubber duck came unglued and now the thermometer is currently at the bottom of the pool still reading 92, while the rubber duck floats around the pool with its little duck face staring at me. Mocking me.

The thermometer is cute as all get out, easily read when pulled from the water. I am trying to use it in my fish pond, however my dog also thinks its the greatest things ever. He also keeps fishing it out of the pond to put with his toys, so all in all I haven't gotten to use it much for its intended purposes. Its durability is also pretty astounding as the ducky is still firmly attached to the thermometer even with my dog's (he's a boxer) attentions.

Looks great, but I think it may be measuring a few degrees too high, but I'd have to get another thermometer to compare to to be sure.Update (moved from 4 to 5 stars): Looks like the duckie I got was just a dud. Customer service was great and gave me a replacement (Polar Bear), which confirmed my suspicion that duckie measured a few degrees too high (and the thermometer fell off as well at one point). The polar bear has been great and measures more accurately.
