I really wanted to like this thermometer. It’s a good size and the design is cool. Unfortunately, I have too many issues with it:1) First and foremost, I question its accuracy. I tested it both in a hot bath and a cold swimming pool. When taking it out and putting it back in the same spot, I’d get a different reading. The readings were at least 2 degrees off from my infrared thermometer, which I’ve come to trust over the years. Plus, my infrared thermometer gives me the same reading in the same spot, unlike the KILEEP did. As a test, I put some of the cold pool water into my Breville Tea Maker. The temperature gauge on the tea maker showed the water at 60 degrees. On my infrared thermometer, it showed 59.5 degrees. But on the KILEEP it showed 64 degrees, which is 4 degrees higher than the other two sources.2) It takes a while before it gives you a reading. Turn it on, drop it in water, and then wait. The digital numbers slowly count before giving a final reading. This is fine if you toss it in and walk away, but annoying if you want to know right away.3) You can’t get into the battery compartment. It’s taped shut. Once the batteries fail, you’ll have to remove the tape, and then what? Buy more waterproof tape? While there’s a rubber ring that circles the taped area, this ring is useless. It will not stay on. Especially when wet. It falls off no matter how many times I put it back on.4) There’s no lighting on the digital screen, so you can’t see it in the dark. Not good for those of us who like to do a cold plunge after sunset.Overall, I just don’t trust this thermometer nor have the patience for it. It's not a good value IMO.
Ooh, shiny gadget.
