Gosh, I wish I could write a raving review. I LOVE the way this can opener looks, and it is just as nice in person. The wood is a nice rich honeyed oak color, and the metal seems of good quality. It has a nice heft and is exactly the size I expected. In fact, even the mechanics look identical to my old can opener that I was hoping to replace with this one. However, when it arrived it didn't spin at all, and I couldn't open any cans. I tried tightening the screw which seemed very loose (the two pieces were barely held together) and was difficult since there's not really a bolt to grasp on the other side. I got it tight enough to bumpily open a can, but I have to go around a few times. Additionally, it does not open cans if I want to do it from the top (which gives safer, flatter edges and all my other can openers can do) and I'm not sure why. I would rate it higher for looks, but it doesn't perform as a can opener should and basically, I'll have to keep my old one (15 years and going strong but gunky and would love an upgrade). Can't recommend.

The wood handles feel good in your hand but the material and craftsmanship leave alot to be desired. Stamped and folded stainless steel not all edges are free of burs .Most likely it will preform its duty and isn't plastic but there are better options.
