Why did you pick this product vs others?:This opener had good reviews. If I had reviewed it in the first week of use, I would have given it a good review, too. I'm not opening cans all the time, but after only a couple of months, the handle got harder and harder to turn and the opener wouldn't go all the way around the lid. When it got to the place where it was almost complete, it couldn't cut through that last bit of can. If I tried to keep going, the lid would take a dive into the can's contents and make a mess, so I had to pry the lid up and give it a twist. That's exactly the kind of can opener I wanted to avoid. I don't recommend it.

This can opener is not made of good metal material. I felt it and compared to my old can opener, it is about 1/3 of the weight. The edges of the metal parts are somewhat rough. It works ok opening cans for now.

I recently ordered the blue manual can opener to replace an all metal pair I've had for decades. I like the size of this pair. The handles and knob are nice and large. There is adequate cushioning on them to keep from hurting your hands, but I think some softer silicone may be nice. It is sharp and does well to cut open the can. My biggest complaint is that there is no magnet to help with the lid or for sticking to a shelf or refrigerator.
