does exactly what I bought it for and for cheaper than buying it from Manfrotto's website (even including the shipping charges for express!)

I placed it on the glass wall in my office, and approximately 20 minutes later, it fell to the ground. Glass is clean. Appears to lose air.Not sure if this is a defective unit I received, or what. But after having that happen, I don't trust using it for what I purchased it for.

True to form Manfrotto nails it again. I know that there are cheaper options out there, but why? Why spend a ton of cash on a light or camera and then stick in precarious situations and skimp on the support? Personally, I want a tank under my rig when it's on the hood of a car, which let's face it, you're probably in the market to accomplish if you're reading this review. This little guy delivers on that front and then some, and opens shot options that can add tremendous production value to your project. I've stuck the 241FB to just about every flat surface out there and have yet (***knocks all the wood) to have a single failure. Obviously you have to watch it and give it the occasional refresh pump, but if you do that you're good to go. Anything with a 3/8 thread will mount to it so even if you never use it as a camera platform it's handy as hell to have in your bag. Great little tool that goes out with me on every job.

I love this thing. It took me a while to figure out how to get it to attach — you need to apply quite a bit of pressure onto the surface to get the first couple of pumps to "grab it", but once it does, it's extremely easy to keep pumped and monitor the grip. I bought it for a shoot where I'd be driving around the streets of Manhattan with my camera attached to the hood of a very expensive luxury car, so I didn't want to skimp and buy a cheaper pump. The Manfrotto is pricey, but worth every penny. I've also used in the studio to mount studio lights on the floor — it's the lowest profile mount that I have now!

Used this mount for some moderately heavy camera equipment and the suction just holds it perfectly in place. I've used it on windows and cars traveling at upwards of 55 MPH. I even tried suctioning my sister's lower back and dragging her around the house with it while she was brushing her teeth! The only difficult thing about it is removing the cup / breaking the suction, which is actually a blessing in disguise. If a 200 lb. guy like me has some difficulty removing this thing sometimes, it's only a testament to its security. This thing is a beast -- 5 stars!

As soon as I received it, I couldn't wait to test it out so I grabbed my 5D MrK 2, manfrotto ball head and suction cup and took it out for a test drive. Worked great! The suction is very strong, but still I worried, which is natural to do so. Anyway definitely worth it if you want a different point of view. Plus you'll get a lot of stares frompeople driving by lol.

This is a very handy suction tool with many uses for photographers of all types. You can use it to mount various types of gear to any clean, smooth surface. You can use it to mount a camera to a car. Or you can use it to mount a flash on a window, when a lightstand is impractical. You can even use it to mount a camcorder to the inside of a car windshield in order to film a driving scene. Most uses of the 241FB require the use of an additional piece of gear, such as a tripod head, a magic arm, or an umbrella bracket. If you're using the 241FB with a flash, then you'll want to use an umbrella bracket. If you want to mount a camera to an auto body, then you'll want to use a tripod head. If you need a bit of distance between the mounting surface and the camera or flash, then you can use a magic arm or a superclamp and boom. Just be mindful that using a magic arm or boom will increase the amount of stress on the 241FB, and depending on the application, may cause the suction seal to fail. For some applications, it makes sense to use multiple 241FB units tied together with magic arms and superclamps. Some important tips:- A good seal requires a clean, smooth surface.- In situations where a suction failure could cause damage or injury, be sure to use a rope to leash the equipment to something sturdy.- After mounting the 241FB, you might need to re-pump every so often. Keep an eye on the pump button so you can re-pump as soon as the red indicator line shows itself.- Depending on your needs, you might be able to get by with a non-photography specific suction cup. These are much cheaper, but usually require some "hacking." With the help of a , something like the can be good enough for lighter applications.
