I have the 6 in 2-pack. Both Clamps have the same issues. While trying to remove the end cap to change from clamp to spreader the end caps stick and jam. You have to wiggle and fight with them to get then to move on the bar while pressing the "push "button. For the price of these clamps, I would NOT recommend buying them. The clamp pads are NOT even. This is the way they are made to work with Kreg pocket hole jig I suspect.I have a set of Jorgensens. The ends are easy to remove and re-configure to spreader. I may send these back and buy a set of 6 inch Jorgensen if they have them.

These Kreg clamps feature a reversible pad, so you can squeeze together or press apart. Works with Kreg pocket hold jigs and offers 300 lbs clamping strength.Compared to other clamps of a similar design I noticed: 1) less slipping, the rubber/silicone pads seem to grip better; 2) movement seems to lock into place better, no slipping when clamping down.I've got similar Harbor Freight and Irwin clamps. Of the plastic trigger-style hand clamps, these Kreg clamps are by far the best.

Kreg KVGC6 Versagrip 6"I was looking for small light-duty parallel clamps that can be opened or closed with one hand. These Kregs are designed to be almost parallel for some inexplicable reason. However, by inserting shims in the bottom half of each black pad they can be "converted" to parallel. Use any hard, full-width shim material -- as long as the black pads fully seat on the clamp frame with the shims in place, you're good to go. I slipped a U.S. quarter and a small slice of hard plastic sheeting under each pad, which pushes the pad face out just enough. One star off for having to modify brand new clamps. The fixed end of the clamp can be relocated anywhere on the bar, a useful feature if the bar itself is in the way where you're clamping. It takes some effort to move the fixed end, but it's not difficult. The large handle for tightening the clamp is very easy to close and the release is just as easy.

As the owner of several other Kreg products, I was excited to see how these particular clamps were going to work. I am not disappointed. Kreg is a high quality brand and I was very happy to see some of their products in my Vine program feeding jumped on the chance to test these clamps out.Though these are not the biggest clamps, they are very strong and have a significant amount of clamping power. They are easily manipulated and open and close smoothly with little effort. They also can be turned into an effective pair of spreaders with very little difficulty by simply removing one head and putting it on the other side of the clamping bar. They are made of both metal and high quality feeling plastic and with care I can see them lasting for many years of heavy use. There are less expensive clamping options out there, but this is one of those you get what you pay for situations. These are good quality clamps that will not only last but will be easier to work with and give better results. So yes in my opinion a great value for a great product.

I have been using Irwin Quick-Grip clamps for years and have about a dozen of them. They are very good clamps so I used them to compare to the Kreg. Kreg has copied that design and added the ability of the clamp head to move and even be turned around to go from compression to expansion. I, like many others in here have had a lot of problems with the clamp head release button. It is a major pain, after some work it will loosen up but I expect better from a brand name company. The Kreg clamp will hold better and tighter than the Irwin but the Irwin is pretty darn good. Irwin opens 3/4 inch bigger than a Kreg. Kregs pads are twice the size of Irwin but Kregs meet at the top first and the full pads do not meet square. The pad bottoms never touch. The Kreg parts are bigger than Irwin and may not get into smaller spaces like the Irwin even thought both brands are the same overall size, length and height. The kreg clamp will even hold a few models of their pocket jigs. Irwin is a good clamp but Kreg has refined theirs a bit more and earned the edge.

I was thrilled to get these Kreg versagrips for use in the shop/garage. I do a little light wood working like fixing chairs and building custom cabinets in my house and these are the perfect size for pulling smaller pieces together, securing my table saw on the bench or holding together one of my kids toys that I re-glue. The grip on these is super intuitive and unlike other brands they slide super easy with just a light touch. They also close with just a push if you need to get it set closer to the size of the item before squeezing the grip to tighten down the hold. The grips are made for smaller items so they won't be as useful for larger projects but for the size they are, they work wonderfully.
