Just installed this pet barrier for the back of my QX60 and could not be happier. After reviewing dozens of products on Amazon, I decided to purchase this barrier based on looks, cost, sturdiness, and type of installation. I was a little worried at first because several of the reviews mentioned that it was noisy and vibrated a lot. The only thing I could determine is these people were writing bad reviews on purpose or they had zero handyman skills and had trouble changing light bulbs. For my installation I put it behind the second row seats because I am not sure it would work very well behind the front seats because the seats will need to be in similar positions, bench seats are best but they work well on my 2nd row captains chairs. The barrier was delivered mostly assembled, I just had to attach the base to the upper barriers via the two post that go in the female receptors then tighten the the screw caps by hand to keep in position. The side adjuster bars are easy to move by just unscrewing the caps a little them moving the poles to the position you want them retighten caps. I have been driving for several days now and there is zero noise that comes from this barrier. If you do have any noise, just make sure you have it attached securely to the head rest, the bottom bar of the base needs to be fairly tight and should be against all 4 of the headrest posts. Make sure the side poles are not touching side of car or glass because that could cause some noise. All in all this has been a terrific purchase and I am glad I choose it. The only thing I would like to see is an option to have a barrier added to block the space between the 2 seats. I wound up using a pet crate separation panel that I did not use and zip tied it in place. Hope this helps if you are having trouble deciding on which barrier to choose. Note that this will not keep your dog in the back if you have a big strong dog that is determined to break out. If that is your situation you will need a wire crate to keep it contained.

The product is a good option for an inexpensive barrier for new Subaru Foresters, given a few qualifiers. I used it on the back seats although it could also be used on the front seats to create a larger area, but in that case an area between the front seats would have to be separately blocked. The comments below are for the rear seat mounting that I used. The good.1. Economical option compared to similar devices of similar quality.2. In spite of some other comments, it will fit a Subaru Forester. Someone else made it fit by removing the middle seat bracket on an earlier year model Forester. That option may or may not work on your year model but any Forester owner can check to see if the bracket is easily removed by a couple of screws. My solution was to add plastic spacers (think of them as thick washers, around 3/8" to 1/2" thick) to the two headrest arms to which the bottom bar is attached. This has the effect of lifting the bottom mounting bar up enough so that it can be levelly mounted, at a height equal to the height of the obstructing middle seat belt bracket.3. This approach offers several storage options. You can leave the bottom bar attached to the seats and then the main barrier is easily put on or taken off as needed. The top barrier can be easily stored in the cargo area. With this approach, it will not be possible to flip one half of the rear seat down without also flipping the other half down. Alternatively (and what I have done) is to leave neither the top barrier nor the bottom bar attached to seats when not in use. Both parts are easily stored in the cargo area (or at home), and this allows the back seat to be fully functional, including a middle passenger seat belt and the ability to independently flip down the two halves of the rear seat. [I actually store the parts in a large plastic box in the cargo area that I bought from Walmart for containing groceries.]4. Does not indent or mar upholstery as those devices that apply pressure to headliner or sides.5. Does not require any tools for attachment or detachment except the allen wrench supplied with the product. The bad.1. Does require a little thought/modification to mount to a Forester, as described above.2. Squeaky.3. This barrier will work for dogs that respect and do not try to defeat enclosures. I believe a determined, strong dog could bend it up and possible injure itself in the process. We have 2 German Shepherds which do not attempt to defeat enclosures (they learned about kennel enclosure as pups) and it works perfectly for them. For a Forester, a nice addition to this is Subaru product # J501SSG400 (rear seat back protectors), which can be had on Ebay for around $55.00.
