Easy just control switching HDMI connections. Does not impact quality of video.

As a semi-professional mobile DJ and Karaoke Host for well over 2 decades, I am constantly adding new features to my shows.One of the new features currently being tested is to use a live video cam, and a HDMI switchbox to toggle between the live vidcam feed and the sound synchronized lighting effects that are displayed via my projector onto a big 13ft video screen.So far the preliminary tests are going well, and I feel confident that this Knisopec HDMI switch is going to help bring this new addition to my shows to life sometime soon.

I grabbed this HDMI switch because my son "needed it for.....blah blah blah". When the tech speak happens, my brain shuts down and I start to think about puppies and kittens and my happy place. This switch was a good price though so I grabbed it for him. It's very small, like very small and he put it to work immediately. The lack of teenage angst and complaining told me that the item was working as it was inteded to. I have given it some time and asked him a coupl eof different times if it is working and how well it is working to which I have received mutterings and grunts of approval and "I told you it's goooood!'. So, basically, it's small and compact, it does it's job and passed the teenage apathy test.

I set this up and it works like it says. I switched between my PS5 and my Series X with no problems. Testing on the consoles show it supports everything it should, this switch does what it says.My big issue is the remote-control conflicts with the remote on LED lights. Just so happens the setup I have uses LEDs to light up the shelves with other consoles, and as soon as change source or do anything on the Switch remote, it changes the LED colors or modes.This is great switch if you're not dealing LEDs like I am but, it's big enough of an issue that I can't use this switch any more....

Unlike the HDMI switches that take a laptop/computer and split the screen into to screens so that it's easier to see more across two displays, this switch does the opposite. It takes up to 5 devices such as an XBox, PS5, Nintendo Switch, gaming laptop, gaming computer, etc, and allow all devices to use a single monitor. Only one device sends data to the monitor at a time. This setup is a great way to keep things organized in a gaming room or to allow for a specialized workstation where one large monitor is used to highlight the video coming from one computer at a time.The specs put out by the HDMI switch are about mid-range with 8K graphics cards and monitors refresh rates above 60Hz but 4K 120Hz may be around for a couple more years so paying $40 for this is a reasonable idea. I don't have an 8K display yet but do have a 4K display so this switch is very useful to me. Switching between devices is seemless and the remote that comes with the switch is nice.Just FYI, there are a couple of reviews listed under this item that seem to be for a different switch. One indicates that the switch they reviewed doesn't need external power. This 5:1 switch does need external power through a USB-C port. A power cable does come with the switch but it's not that long so be prepared to install this near a power source.
