StarTech.com's 4 Port VGA Video and Audio Switch lets you switch between four separate VGA signals, as well as the corresponding audio, for output to a single display or projector.

An ideal solution for situations where VGA and audio input ports are scarce, the VGA switch eliminates the hassle of having to swap out connections to your display and audio receiver, while letting you select the video source at the push of a button. The VGA switch also features convenient remote switching capability, through either RS232 serial remote control or the included IR remote control - allowing you to switch between VGA input signals from a distance and in turn providing a convenient addition to presentation displays, trade shows, security environments and more.

My company purchased two of these boxes to use in a team room. The theory was we could get 4 people to share a common display as we collaborated. The problem with both of the boxes is that the screen resolution would go to 1280x1024 max and we were using 1920x1080. Since we do web development, resolution is a big deal. We called tech support and changed cables, switches - everything we could think of. After an hour, we gave up and threw these away. The Windows 7 64 bit laptops could not recognize the monitor type when connected through the switch. Since the OS (NVDIA driver) couldn't figure out what type of monitor we were connected to - it defaulted to "Analog Display" and took the resolution down. If we connect directly to the monitor everything works. The specifications say it can do 1920x1080 - but it clearly does not.

Does exactly what I want it to. Manual switch between displays just works, it's very fast making the transition, it *doesn't* try to think for me and guess which active port I want to see, if there is no connection it doesn't care, it just shows a black screen. In short, for my needs (I'm a software developer that often has multiple machines up and I need multiple displays, this gadget manages my second monitor so I can switch independently) it's perfect. And, for my needs, again it's perfect as it does not come with a power adapter, but doesn't need one, either. I plugged it in and it just worked. My systems are Windws 8.1 with Dell 2740P monitors.

This VGA switcher works exactly as intended. Switching between computers, even those using extended desktop displays, was effortless and quick and effiicient

Living on the big island of Hawaii is great. But we are limited to supplies,I guess that is the price we pay for living in paradise.I purchased this for my church video system. We needed something just to change video between several computers no sound, keyboard, mouse needed, but I wanted it to be powered. It needed to be priced right and look good with the rest of the equipment in our control room This product fit all of the above. Thanks Amazon and vendors you Rock!!!Moses

I purchased this switcher to manage multiple inputs into my projector as part of a home media center. Having used it for a number of months now I can say that it is reliable and does the job well. Unfortunately I use a Logitech programmable remote with it and it needs to be aimed within a narrow directional cone in order to get the signal through. I recommend it for installations which are easy to set up with direct line of sight to the location of the remote control.

I purchased this product and realized that I made a mistake on the item I ordered and returned it by refusing the package when it was delivered. After about 10 days, I got a notice in my e-mail from Amazon that they were crediting my credit card in full without any questions. I gave 5 stars for the service I received from Amazon. However, I do own 3 of this device for 9 months, and It's been working just fine as it should. I have them installed in my two different conference rooms to switch between many PCs and Laptops to two LG 55" LED TV/Monitors and a Mitsubishi 73" rear projected TV. The Mitsubishi TV did not come with a VGA connection so I even have a StarTech VGA to HDMI converter installed on top of StarTech VGA switcher, and they all work harmoniously without any comparability issues. The user manual from StarTech does not explain all the features in detail, but it seems to me they work bi-directionally, so the resolutions and format of the images on the monitors are all set automatically by the PC or the Laptop. Time to time when I do not like the format the computer selects, I change it manually, but this change is limited to the video card capability in the computer. Also, this is a true 1920x1200 resolution VGA swither. But, there could be an issue with this device one needs to think about. If your TV/Monitor does not come with a vertical and horizontal image location adjustment/control for the VGA (PC) input, the image may appear off center and part of the image will be covered up. This is not the case with HDMI input. Fortunately, my monitors came with the control, but I had to call the service department of the TV to find out where that adjustment was. It was in "Setting" section of the TV control menu under PC Input. So, I have no idea when the others complain about this device. I give 5 starts for this VGA Switcher too. And, thank you again AMAZON for such a generous service.

I got a couple of these for a conference that my job was holding -- with everyone wanting to show PowerPoints and pictures and the whole 9 yards, we needed a simple device that could easy switch between various computers. This switcher did not let us down. Works great -- easy as plug and play basically. There were two small things I noticed -- more or less notes to keep in mind, as they might cause you a little grief if you come across them: one was that the inputs have to be done in order. On the back of the device, each port is numbered "Input 1", or "Input 2" -- so on and so forth. It happened to be, when we were plugging everything in, that "Input 4" was the closest for the first laptop we were plugging in. It wouldn't work. We thought it was something with the device, and for the heck of it, I just decided to replug the VGA cable into "Input 1". Worked no problem. I attempted the same steps again, and the same thing occurred. So one needs to start with input 1, and then continue from there. Also, the remote works great, but unfortunately, they decided to use an infrared sensor to capture the remote's commands, so unfortunately, to be able to change the input channel, you have to stand directly (or at least pretty darn close) to the front of the box, where the sensor's located.Again - these are just minor things in my book. As long as you keep those two things in mind -- the switcher works beautifully.
