About this item

  • In-Mold construction reinforces the area around the vents and ribs, creating a one-piece exoskeleton, which allows the helmet to be lighter, more durable and better ventilated than traditional designs
  • Thermoformed SL Roll Cage acts like a second shell, enhancing structural support, impact dispersion and penetration, while allowing for the biggest vents possible without compromising the helmet's strength or integrity
  • Thermoformed SL Roll Cage is 49% lighter than the one used in the Ionos helmet
  • Lightweight EPS foam is 15% less dense when compared with the Ionos helmet
  • 24 sweeping Wind Tunnel vents with internal channels thrust 15% more cool, fresh air over and around your head while forcing heat and stale air out

With an ingenious structural design, incredible ventilation and a nearly weightless feel, the Aeon racing helmet is designed for serious competition. Structural support and long ventilation channels create more "air space" around your head for a cooler experience. Features Giro's new ultra-light, ultra-strong, Thermoformed SL Roll Cage -- a whopping 49% lighter than the sub frame used in the Ionos helmet. Add on the Roc Loc 5 fit system, MicroTech Tri-Locs, new Slimline webbing retainer, custom Slimline buckle and logo-printed pads for even further weight savings and an unbeatable fit. I really do love this helmet for cycling because they are very light and fit my large head very comfortably. The Roc-Loc system is also veryteasy to adjust. I do think however that they are a bit pricey.UPDATE : I have been riding with this helmet since last June 2016 when I purchased it -until last weekend when I crashed while wearing it on a training ride. I was riding at high speed when I hit a pothole in the curve of the road and went over the handle bar and landed on the left side of my forehead and face. The helmet and my glasses took most if not all of the impact and while I have suffered a lot of facial injury including a broken jaw I did not experience any head injuries. The force of impact resulted in a vertical crack in the forehead area of the shell enclosure and the frontal external area is severely scraped and dinged up. In my previous post I complained about the price but this incident has shown me that price should be a non-factor when shopping for a safe helmet to protect your head. This helmet has probably saved my life. The people at Giro have also done a great job in making it light and easy to adjust, I can attest to its superiority as a bike helmet - and glad I lived to tell the story.
