If you are a hands on person save your money and do it yourself. It will require some patience, and additional tools to do it right. However with the right tools the show piece came out great!

The only thing difficult with this item is the AMC (antler mount cap) is not easy to work with.I destroyed my first one, had to order a second mount, to replace the AMC I messed up.So I finally gave up and took to a taxidermist. So my learning curve was a bit costly, but I like the product and I would buy again! I’d just take it and my rack to taxidermist to have it completed.

It’s solid real wood. I really like this one because it allows you to mount a picture with it for memories.

I got this kit for my son's first deer. It was a little basket whitetail rack that would look a little funny on a lot of the kits out there because of its smaller size. This one looked like it would work, and the size was pretty good. Adding the picture made it the perfect keepsake. So when you're putting this thing together, you'll have to do some modifications here and there, which makes sense as every rack is different. Cutting the holes in the mount cover was kinda tricky for me and takes some fiddling to get it decent. I had to unscrew the rack and put some spacers under the top to tilt it outwards to make it work better. In the end, the gold rope covered most of my mistakes and it doesn't look too bad. It's definitely not taxidermist quality but I wasn't expecting it to be. The kit components are good quality and I think my boy will like it.

Took about 45 mins to put together and mount a nice white tail buck antlers. Probably could work for a set of mid-size mule deer antlers as well, but definitely will not fit for larger game such as elk which some other reviewers complained they thought this mounting kit would fit. Instructions were junk, just screw the deer antler skull plate down and cut the cap to fit over. Cutting the brown cap included was difficult to say the least. I attempted with sharp knife and heavy pair of scissors to very slow progress. Got out my jig saw and this cut it fine, but be careful not to hack your fingers off. Cutting this cap took by far the most time, all the other steps took about 1 min each. The gold rope included is cheap as well, but when all said and done, it looks fine on the wall. I recommend it more than all the other $15-50 cheap antler mount kits out there, but if I shot a nice buck which needed a mount kit similar to this (not a $350 shoulder mount), I'd highly recommend spending more with a professional / taxidermist doing the antler mount or getting a European mount done.
