- #2,130 in Camera Lens Neutral Density Filters
This B+W Neutral Density Filter reduces the light by two f-stops (log density 0.6), and it is the most popular ND filter in photographic work. It offers many benefits, for instance f/4 instead of f/8 for selective sharpness instead of a great depth of field, or 1/15 s instead of 1/60 s for a flowing instead of a "frozen" waterfall. It has excellent color neutrality, costs less than the denser filters, and is recommended as part of a basic outfit. The filter factor is 4x.

This is a DUST MAGNET. I took it out of the package and IMMEDIATELY it had dust attaching to it, I couldn't believe my eyes. Half tempted to return it, this whole "B+W makes the best filters!" saying is hard to believe. I've had plenty of similar filters /not/ have this issue.

High quality product. Great product and the single coating works great for my less frequent usage with my 5D III.

There are a lot of less expensive ND filters on the market but for the best visual quality, I've started to stick with the B+W brand for a few reasons. For starters, they have a very heavy build quality. They screw on and off easily, unlike some less expensive brands. Also, the glass is of very high quality. Most importantly, the photo and video quality speaks for itself.

Tolle Wasserläufe habe ich damit fotografiert.Es sollte aber unbedingt mit dem Selbstauslöser ausgelöst werden.Das Gewinde richtig zu schrauben ist in der Eile nicht leicht möglich.

good quality, but warmer (or yellow?) cast and some vignette when used on Leica 50mm summicron-M at f2, both of which should be able to be corrected with manual white balance or software. However, I did notice that far-away objects at corners are a bit blurry at f2 with the filter than without. The main reason for me to buy this is to use f2 in broad daylight and it delivers. For strong lighting portraiture at f2, I guess it should be ok as long as the subject is close to the middle of the frame.

Perfect for taming the sun. This 2-stop ND filter allows you to use a slower shutter speed when shooting outdoors at wide apertures, and with no color cast! Pair it with the .3 (1-stop) and you get 3-stops when you need it. Ou can use your lens hood and lens cap with this filter. I had tried a variable ND filter and while it was convenient to dial in 1-3 stops it had a color cast I did not like, and beyond that you got the dreaded "X", plus you could not use your lens hood or cap with it. As a pro photographer I prefer to use individual filters and combine them. This is the perfect accessory to have in your camera bag.

Consegna nei termini e imballo sicuro e protettivo. Il filtro è ottimo non modificando il cast della foto e consentendo velocità di otturazione adeguate in pieno giorno con obiettivi molto luminosi.

This filter is fantastic. The threads were machined to perfection and the German glass really outshines the competition. My photosthat I first took with this filter turned out exceptionally well.

This filter more or less stays on my wide angle lens, esp. when I'm shooting during daylight. Has to be cleaned regularly as it smudges something awful, but it makes everything look nicer, giving me wonderful blue skies and fluffy white clouds. Makes water look great too, very fluid instead of static. Well-made and highly recommended.

Heliopan and B+W are the Mecerdes-Benz and BMW of the filter world. While other companies make decent filters, once you've seen the quality and consistency of a B+W filter you won't want to buy any other brand. You get precision ground German optics with quality coating all packaged in a precision, solid aluminum ring. This filter has only a single coating and for less money I could have bought a multi coated Hoya filter. But having owned other B+W filters I was certain their single coating would be as good if not better than anybody else's multi coating filters and I was right.

When I opened the package, I was immediately impressed with the filter box. It is exceptionally well made. In quality it is clearly head and shoulders above the filter boxes of the other brand filters that I have. This speaks well of B&W.The filter itself appears well make. It has the weight and feel of quality filter and the threads are well matched for my camera.B&W has a well deserved reputation for making high quality filters.I purchased this lens for use on my Canon 50 mm 1.8 and 40 mm lens. It performed well on both when tested, but better on the 40 mm because even though the 50 is a sharp lens the 40 is sharper. On the 50, comparing photos with without the filter, you could see a slight difference, like maybe shooting through a very thin pane of glass. On the 40 mm, the photo was about the same as the ones taken without a filter. There is a very slight cast, again a little more noticeable on the 50 than the 40, but in neither case was it enough to spoil the photo. I shoot RAW and it was very easy to remove in processing.I tried putting a Hoya CPL on top of this filter in anticipation of the times that I need more darkening than this filter alone and the 2 worked well together. This is an excellent filter and it does what I got it for: shooting wide open at a slow shutter speed in day light. But as I have learned from my tests, the lens you put it on is also a factor in the extent, if any, the fact you are using the filter is detectable in the prints. This is my second B&W filter, and their filters are now the ones I prefer to use
