Fotga 72mm ND filter used on Sony FE4 16-35mm Lens mounted on a Sony A7R II camera. The filter works just OK up to 8 stops with some vignetting in the corners (bottom left and top right). It also appears filter application is uneven across the image. The filter is unusable at stops 9 and 10 on the scale. When set at 10 (the maximum setting) an "X" makes the image unusable. Be prepared to crop photos and to compensate for uneven filtering if you use this filter.

This filter is incredible. Many people will talk about how important an ND filter is but until you have it on you lens you cant appreciate the warmth and professional look it gives you. I didnt want to purchase this because it was low priced and the color was red. I assumed it had to be poor quality because it was priced so low. As a photographer I can tell you that there is absolutely no difference between this filter and the ones that cost $90. Perhaps they are giving this price because people dont want to be stuck with the color red. I have no idea but I am over the concerns.Try this. If you dont you will not understand how much more professional your photos will look. You have a month to return it if you dont like it... thats what I had to tell myself. You wont return it. Best of luck!

**IMPORTANT, I am a TopContributor in Photography specifically and I specialize in 1, (one), area; *Providing 4/4.5-5 star recommendations on products I’ve tested extensively. I don’t feel my time is needed to leave 2-3 star reviews because a $16 ND-Variable Filter came with A CASE THAT WILL BREAK IN A COUPLE MONTHS! It’s quite obvious 1000’s of people enjoy that Endeavor! {*I PROVIDE A FAST TRACK TO BOTH HIGH AND ****Affordable**** products you can count on to do as advertised!!*That said; quite simply, if you need an inexpensive under $20,( which frankly is just not easily possible ), for VIDEO PURPOSES, than I can Recommend this Filter hands down, {until at least you can invest in high end filters}. Build Quality is A+, Fotgo is a sub-company providing unbranded accessories for the lowest prices, & have A+ customer service.***I MUST ADMIT, I WAS HOOKED BY THE RED METALLIC COATING ON THIS FILTER, and I still love it. My BOTTOM LINE though can’t be impacted by flashy gear that performs aweful, so I stand behind my statement for video, and necessity.Money/Cost is a double edged sword, I did it, everyone does it, so if youyre about to; THINK THAT THERE IS AN EASY WAY AROUND A SCHOTT GLASS ND FILTER,( schott glass any filter), COSTING YOU PROBABLY CLOSE TO YOUR BEST LENS AS AN AMATEUR, ***There IS NONE. Period. I’m not going to write a dissertation on the oddity of needing the highest quality filters, {Or more Easily understood, NOT USING POOR QUALITY FILTERS, VS calculating an alternative way to capture the shot your thinking of}, and in the END, you’ll pay,( and if you do this for money you will pay I promise), for high grade filters.Video, is inherently low resolution, and MOVING, so comparing photography results is not possible, in a way relative to a cost/Value/Quality true analysis. This may be really harsh, but here’s what you need to learn and fast, : $16, will not buy a decent lens filter carrying pouch, let alone one that houses a B&W 77mm SchottGlass $300 ND Filter. Again the purpose is product opinions, but if you aren’t seasoned enough,( and believe me, I applaud everyone who shoots, I’m just saying when your paycheck depends on your shots, vs your shot quality depending on your paycheck {that buys accessories you learn about as you go}, you must comprehend your entire camera lens setup, ENTIRE, is as good as the worst element on it, DON’T leave bogus reviews about plastic cases for Christ Sake, and X’s,( which is a definable phenomenon or Artifact, of stopping to far down on a filter, not a poor quality filter. These comments drive me mad, I swear! Photography (Cuz when it’s said and done most people are trying to shoot a waterfall looking like a dream), is an Art, but it is based on the Science of Light Capture. So you just can’t read your way to great photos, w/out any investment, money, or blood , sweat , and tears,( of joy and pain). Nor can you take a gift for composition and WING IT, never understand lens vs camera resolution, and 1000 other nuggets of info you’ll need. So start now, but this knowing what it will and won’t do, or DON’T, and save until at least a $125 filter, that will get you maybe 3-4 years of, ‘massaged in photoshop’ images that can pass.Videographers, have at it, !!

Photos taken on an Lumix FZ80, happy to provide RAWs if someone doubts them.As soon as you start to turn the dial and apply the filter you get this weird partial application of the filter over the sensor. As you can see the images have some effect from the filter, but its not uniform or usable over the entire image. All the other reviews are glowing, makes me wonder if those are even real?

Exact fit for my lenses, excellent build quality & function. The ND2 to ND400 and filter guide work as advertised--very smooth rotation. Also, I like the red color...nice accent for a black lens (my humble opinion). In fact, more folks were interested in the Fotga Slim Faders (bought 3 sizes) than my Sony A7R III!

For the price, one can't go wrong in buying one of these filter. Don't let the price fool you, this is a great filter. I can get about 8.5-9 of the 10 stops, before the "X" factor shows up. I love the RED color, it help to stand out among all my other filters and it makes it very easy to spot. There are stop markers on the outside lens that turn. I found that the pointer mark was on the bottom when I installed it. No problem, just spun the outside lens one to the top. Mark with a permanent marker the spot where it starts to turn darker. Problem solved.Focus? No problem at all. Just focus it at the lightest setting, then turn off the auto focus and turn it around to the stop you need. I am using a 11 to 20 MM Tokina lens without any problems. I bought a set of step down filter set, to use them on all the other 5 lenses that I have, plus the 82 MM Tokina. One filter will work on all by using the rings. What a cheap way to go and save a ton of money.

Pleasantly surprised. Used the 77mm filter on my Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K Cinema Camera with my Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L with a 72mm step down ring. No noticeable purple cast and the image was not too much softer. Used again with my Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens and the results were the same. I didn't expect much for $16, but to be honest, this is damn good variable ND filter for me on my Blackmagic Cine Camera. Very very happy with my purchase!
