Had to try the BARSKA 15-40 X 50. Love its looks. Love its very light weight. Does it fit the bill and or make the grade? My first impression was no, but find it very useful.Took it to the field this last weekend and was not really aware I had a scope that does not match the big boy spotting scope's performance. It has trouble resolving a snap link on a tower 700 yards away like my 80 mm objective scopes do, but seems great out to a few hundred yards. Saw a little chromatic aberration in some scenes.Broke the plastic tripod when adjusting it’s legs, so much for a tripod, very dinky anyway. The scope probably not for astronomy use, but not the reason I procured it. In comparison to other over fifty dollar scopes with 80-millimeter objectives, I give the Barska a rating of 3. For its capability for a low priced light weight scope under $50 have to rate it a 5. So the Barska scope earns a solid 4. How do you really evaluate a 40 dollar scope as top drawer when there are 4000 dollar scopes? And not all users have the same scope requirments.I like the 15 x magnification the scope has which makes the scope a contender as a hand held monocular. Shacky image for sure hand held, but allows my glasses to be worn when using it at 15x. Glasses use not optimal using the other magnificatins settings. The scope has larger magnifications that work better for the user with a standard tripod. The included plastic tripod not really useful for most users. After market digiscoping adaptors would have to mount on the magnifiction adjustment ring probably so digiscoping not going to be one of this scopes credits in my opinion. I tried no digiscopping for this review.
