Well, it's 3D printed. The photos clearly show it. I knew that when I ordered it and took a chance on this thing because it didn't have any reviews. I found a file for it on Thingiverse, but the ones there did not have the magnetic retainer. And besides I don't have a 3D printer. I did consider buying a 3D printer so I could print my own Leatherman sheath, but then I came to my senses and just ordered this one for $15.As for the sheath, it's decent enough print quality. It's very sturdy, and It holds my Leatherman Wave firmly in place. There is a little play from side to side, but I have to turn it upside down and shake it fairly forcefully to get it to come out. The large magnet in the back gives a good amount of retention that is much better than I expected. It's still very easy to remove the multitool from the sheath with just one finger lifting up and sliding it out. Getting it back in the sheath on my hip was a little fiddly at first, but it didn't take but a few in and outs to get the hang of it. If I were going to print my own I would add a little flare at the top to make it a little easier to locate the entry. But as stated, it isn't a problem with just a little practice. It's also very comfortable on my hip. It hangs low enough that it doesn't stick into my more-than-above-average love handles.Overall I am pretty pleased with it. I hope it holds up well. I don't see any reason it shouldn't. If I had any nits it would be the 3D print quality. It could be better, but it's not so bad that I would deduct a star for it. If anything breaks, I'll update this review. Also, it was shipped and arrived faster than my usual Amazon packages. I was wondering if it was going to take a day or so for it to be printed and then shipped, but apparently it's in stock in some Amazon fulfillment center somewhere.
