I bought this 120gb CF-express type A card to pair with my Sony FX30 and it has worked like a charm. I recorded a 25 minute 4K120p video and the file size was around 30gb. The excasend card transferred that file over to my computer in under a minute. I also copied the file back onto the drive and it completed that in less than a minute as well with sustained write speeds above 400MB/s. The only con of this product is that CF-Express type A cards are way to expensive as a whole.Recording time with Excasend 120gb card:(H.264)XAVC S - 4K24p ( 2 hours 23 minutes) (100M 4.2.2 10 bit )XAVC S - 4K30p ( 1 hours 43 minutes) (140M 4.2.2 10 bit )XAVC S - 4K60p ( 1 hour 11 minutes) (200M 4.2.2 10 bit )XAVC S - 4K120p ( 49 minutes ) (280M 4.2.2 10 bit )(All-I)XAVC S-I - 4K24p ( 1 hour 2 minutes ) (240M 4.2.2 10 bit )XAVC S-I - 4K30p ( 49 minutes ) (300M 4.2.2 10 bit )XAVC S-I - 4K60p ( 25 minutes) (600M 4.2.2 10 bit )(H.265)XAVC HS - 4K24p ( 2 hour 23 minutes ) (100M 4.2.2 10 bit )XAVC HS - 4K60p ( 1 hour 11 minutes ) (200M 4.2.2 10 bit )XAVC HS - 4K120p ( 49 minutes ) (280M 4.2.2 10 bit )

Costs a lot less than the Sony 160gb card for 180gb (per gb, less than half the price). Using it in the A7RV for several weeks and it gets the job done. Now I have 2 Sony 80gb cards as spare... No perceptible difference in performance. just one problem...it's still damned expensive so only 4 stars.....Since my initial review I've taken many pictures, different settings different lenses....etc. for me, this is more than fast enough. I am not in a competition so no scientific tests. I have not run out of buffer when taking continuous shots with my A1 (although I use these in my A7RV), had no problems transferring files to my computer, had no corrupt files.... in conclusion, I cant think of one reason (good or bad) why I should pay more for a cf express type a card.

I thought that I got a good deal on a CF Express card for my Sony camera. Unfortunately, after only about 5 uses over 5 months, the card failed on me and caused my camera to malfunction. For hours after trying to troubleshoot my camera, I just removed the this CF Express card and the camera worked perfectly. When I tried to connect the CF card to my USB reader, the card would not initialize and then it got very hot. The card no longer works at all and I hope to get it replaced. I opened a warranty/RMA request over a week, but I have not heard back from Exascend yet.

I purchased the a7r5 at launch and this was my first camera with the option for CFExpress A cards, wanting to save a few bucks I saw that Exascend offered options at a significant price savings. While not spec for spec, you can get 2 of the 120gb Exascend cards for the price of a single Sony 160gb. Another way to look at it, for the same price of a Sony 80gb CF A card, you can purchase this 120gb card.I had a lot of hope for this card, as over on B & H, there positive reviews (3 at the time of this review) from buyers as well as recommendations for staff, Amazon was offering Prime w/free return so I took a gamble.I had at my disposal, 3 different CF-a (CFExpress A) cards, Exascend, Delkin & Sony and I did a bunch of comparisons.Things started out great, running AJA System tests, the Exascends were performing right there with the other two, in fact it was on top with Write = 660MB/s & Read = 674MB/s (Sony, W=658 R=657).When I started to do the buffer tests, this is when I saw something odd, the Exascend card would empty out the buffer at around 9 seconds ( 7 seconds on the Delkin & Sony ) however, the real problem was that I was only getting 115 uncompressed RAW files on the Exascend cards vs around 185 files on the other two cards. I tried everything in my power to see what I could have been doing wrong, including re-initialing the camera, to doing a full Zero wipe on the card.Granted, this was ONLY an issue when I shot with uncompressed RAW. As with the other CF-A cards, if I shot in any other compressed mode (RAW Compressed, RAW Lossless Compressed, JPG, HEIF, RAW+JPG/HEIF) the buffer turns into an endless buffer, and you can shoot until you run out of battery or capacity!Things continued to go downhill as when I would attempt to dump the files from the card to my computer, even though the Exascends scored the highest in the Write & Read test, they would religiously bog down while it was dumping the data, so it took longer to clear out the camera when compared to the others. (I even waited for the cards & card reader to cool down to see if that helped and I got the same results)So even though this CF-a cards was not the fastest when compared to the other CF-a cards, I started to think, well perhaps these would be a good option for something looking to go faster than SD cards but dont have the $$$ for high end CF-A cards. So I took all 3 cards out with me to a few events and sure enough, while capturing shots at a Christmas light display, the Exascend conked out of my and failed to be recognized in the camera. Nothing I could do to restore the card. I was not terribly concerned with the data lost, as I was merely trying to test the cards ability to keep up with my style of shooting.I have returned the card to Amazon and did not request a replacement card. Perhaps I got a bad card and should have reached out to their support for a replacement. No matter how much we want things to work right out of the box, things can go wrong and that is why as consumers, we are protected by warranties. (mind you this card comes with a 5 year or 75TB written warranty.....)It really is a shame this card went dead on me within 2.5 weeks of owning it. I would have absolutely recommended it to anyone looking to buy SD cards, as these are similarly priced and even though this is the slowest CF-A card I have tested, it is light years faster than the best SD cards (Sony CF Tough 128gb v90, took 21 seconds to dump 52 uncompressed RAW files)One final thing to note, outside of Amazon, the only other major retailer in the US selling this card is B & H, and oddly enough on their site, these CF A cards are listed as "noncancelable & nonreturnable" AkA... big gamble.Testing materials:Card Reader = ProGrade CF-A / SD UHS-ii card reader (10gbps) [B07M68C7V5]File Dump Target = NVMe drive (W = 1300MB/s, R = 2800MB/s)Comparison Cards:Delkin CF Card = Power 160gb [B09SP8R641]Sony CF Card = Tough 160gb [B08DRQ6KLL]Sony SD Card = Tough-G 128gb [B07H9GDFRW]
