Good alternative on a budget. Works with Shure body packs, has a mini xlr 3 FEMALE connector. Should work as long as your battery pack supplies 5 volts of bias voltage. Pretty good clean pickup for the money. This is the dual hook over ear variety, so should stay on your head if the talent is active, dancing, etc.Definitely not falling off during podcasts! Would recommend if money is tight.

This is a good quality microphone. It has a comfortable fit, though the mic is a little tight on the face, and it doesn't really shape all that way to change it. For the price, this is a great speaking microphone. I don't think it's a great mic for a singer because it's a little hard to adjust, but for a lecture or sermon, this should work well.

This mic connected perfectly to my AKG PT 40 PRO sending unit. The connector seems robust, locked in solidly, and was easy to disconnect. The earloops fit well, and the mic boom hangs out of the way, but with a good field. It is quite sensitive, even quiet speaking is picked up clearly. I ran it strait into a preamp and out to headphones, and without a compressor the mic is almost to sensitive, and may be prone to feedback if the user is directly in front of a speaker.I ran it into decent quality soundboard (Mackie Onyx) with some compression as well. It functioned as expected with about 75% gain on the receiving unit. I still had a small amount of feedback when directly in front of a PA speaker, but moving out of line eliminated it.It is extremely lightweight, and may not be up to hard use but for presenting speakers I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I have a professional wireless microphone system that uses a headworn microphone with a mini XLR TA3F connector. I really like that system, but they no longer make it. The most vulnerable component is the headworn microphone and I have tried to find a spare, but I haven’t found one that sounded the same, or had the TA3F connector. I saw the YXG microphone and it looked promising. Though it was advertised as being for an AKG system, I took a chance that it would work with my transmitter. The XYG microphone came in a zippable plastic bag. An extra foam windscreen is included. The construction is quite simple, with a formed wire piece that fits over both ears, and a stiff wire mic boom that is attached with two plastic studs. The construction seems solid, with the only potential points of failure being the plastic parts and the thin microphone cable.I tried the XYG microphone with my wireless system and it sounded almost identical to the professional headworn microphone. It was hard to hear any sonic difference in A-B comparisons. It was perfect for speaking and singing, and sounded natural. Feedback rejection was pretty good, comparable to similar omnidirectional condenser microphones. The TA3F connector did fit my bodypack transmitter, but the fit was so tight that I thought it was permanently jammed into the socket. I had to use a small screwdriver to pry it out. Fortunately, after several insertions and removals, the connector lost some of its tightness and could be removed, although not as easily as the professional microphone’s connector. The microphone boom is not adjustable fore-aft, and the capsule extended an inch in front of the corner of my mouth, but is seemed to be out of the stream of plosives. The boom can be bent to adjust the microphone placement. The ear loops are not easily adjustable beyond actually bending the wire. I did feel some scratchiness on my ears near the bottom of the ear loops due to the sharp edges of the plastic tubing that ends there. I will try trimming the plastic tubing to eliminate the sharp edges. As long as your system accepts a mini-XLR TA3F connector and follows the wiring used by AKG, this will be a very good sounding condenser microphone for the price.
