It takes one second just unplug and then plug back. I know it's not an industrial but it's only $17 and I don't live in Florida so it's more than enough for my area

I lost 2 tvs and routers from lighting. Even right now with it being storm season I haven't had a problem yet since I hooked this little guy up.

Nice to have this additional level of protection that almost all people ignore. I’ve had equipment destroyed through a surge on the network jack and the vendor would not honor the warranty and said I had to have something like this to be covered. It was a crap stance by them and should make that more well known in their documentation. So I got this and they are really easy to install and smaller than I thought so you do t have to skip spots in your switch. No problems so far. If they were cheaper I might put them on more things. For now they cover my internet provider coming in and my high dollar equipment.

This relies on the shield for grounding. I'm using them as a second layer of defense with a traditional grounded gas-discharge surge protector in front of POE injectors, and this between the POE and switches. The links I am protecting go outside, and up high, so every layer of protection is worthwhile for me. Maintains 1gbps connection for me even with a long cable.

These are nice quality, and I have noticed no difference in throughput with them implemented.A couple of things that could be a problem for some:1. The size - if your network switch's ports are very close together, these will block the ports adjacent to them. I purchased shielded CAT6 extensions to solve that.2. The fastening tab is ever so slightly wider than that of a standard RJ45 connector, so on some ports it is too wide to click in, and it will fall out of the port. You can either use a shielded extension and hope the extension's port fits the surge protector's tab, or you can hit the tab very slightly with a Dremel and get it to the right size. It's *barely* out of spec. A very quick filing of the left and right side of the tab should be sufficient. Bzzzp...bzzzp. Done.

I picked these up after installing a few at work actually. At work, we have a bunch of cameras that sit on the outside of our building and a while back, after a nearby lightning strike, it created enough of a surge on the lines outside, that it injected that surge directly into the PoE switch causing it to fail. Well this wasn't the first time that switch failed either... in fact surges in this way have killed a total of 3 switches over the past decade due to this reason. Well, we had installed these on that switch a while back, and I can't say for sure that it's because of these, but we've had a LOT of thunderstorms lately with multiple near strikes again, but this time around our switch survived, not a blip. I'd like to think these little things are what saved the $1000 switch, and if that is the case, they're well worth the money. That said, I ended up picking up a pair of these for my equipment at home because it's just peace of mind.

Others have complained that the connectors do not lock. In several cases for me (asus router, dell precision workstation) the "lock" not only fails to lock, it actually pushes the connector out of the socket. At best the connection is unreliable. I ended up having to buy a different brand.

I purchased this ethernet surge protector on the recommendations from this community, people complained about the unit not clicking in. I had no issues I use this in my access point in my barn that is hardwired by the Internet to my house 125 feet away, we lost the access point in a lightning storm earlier this week. I bought a new one and put a ethernet search protector in line. Hopefully this will help to protect my equipment.
