It is what it says it is. No cracks or abnormalities. I used it to plug some 3/8” holes. Worked great.

I had read that I could use a dowel to plug counter sunk screws, and that 3/8" was the proper diameter for my No 8 wood screws. However, the diameter of the dowel was just too large. I ended up needing to buy screw plugs instead that have a tapered end and sand them down.Of course, I don't know if this is really the fault of the dowel, but since it didn't work for my purposes, I can't give it a very high rating. Other than that seems to be a solid dowel. BTW, it is actually walnut, even though the picture looks like pine.
