FUNCTIONS: Individual activation code to prevent unauthorised riders to activate the tuning. Completely unlock the motor for speed up to 28mph. Set your own speed limit to adjust or reduce battery consumption. All settings can be easily made using the display control buttons. The tuning is always switched off after switching on the bike. Correct total mileage of the bike even after removing the tuning module, as the milage are tracked in the motor control by the tuning module. Range calculation remain accurate even with the tuning active. Set a ‘softer control behaviour’ (dynamic mode) which reduces the annoying engine abrupt cut-off. This allows for a more pleasant driving experience and a constant pedal stroke. Battery percentage remain accurate even with the tuning activated. In active mode the battery range is calculated as: Interval: 4 second range, 1 second battery level. Workshop mode: Deactivate the module completely, e.g. if a workshop visit is due. The module is around 40 percent smaller than in the previous models for a better fit into the motor compartment. The electronics are completely encapsulated in the housing, making them absolutely waterproof. Does not require any diagnostic tool for installation. When connecting the VOLspeed tuning kit to your eBike you will find connectors colored to match the connectors on both the motor and the tuning kit to make installation easy. Fantastic item that does exactly what it says it will do with no drama. Straightforward installation albeit a bit tight confines in my application, easy on and off via the main control unit, and solid customer support. Really happy with this choice. Thing is that yes, it will assist to 28 mph and to many that sounds scary. And while it can do that where I find it most useful is just beyond the Class 1 20 mph limited top assist speed. You're not often buzzing around at top speed scaring the old folks but in very normal riding scenarios it's very easy and comfortable to exceed that 20 mph mark and at speed just over that it's very nice to have the option for seamless, continued pedal assistance instead of this instant drag that occurs at 21 mph when the current 20 mph limit is passed.

This tuning device works on all Bosch motors except the newest Smart System. VOLspeed warns about this on their site and material. The ad in Amazon says "all Bosch motors" and is incorrect. Bosch has apparently made great effort to foil aftermarket tuning devices with their newer Smart System software. Other brands of tuners like Speedbox and others have had issues getting error codes eventually on Bosch Smart Systems.My Trek Rail 7 has the standard software with the Purion display, so the tuner works perfectly as advertised. The factory software had the speed limit set at 25kmh which is 15.5mph. That is absolutely too slow even for a lot of mountain biking scenarios. It's been awesome not having the bike go dead. I can often pedal a pedal-only MTB faster than 15.5mph even on some flat terrain, so I set the max speed at 25.4mph, and it's been great. It doesn't make the bike dangerous or out of control. It's very natural.

Installed into a Raleigh retroglyde with a Bosch active line plus with purion. Very easy install, no exposed wires, completely hidden. Took me 15 minutes. Now, be instead of hitting a wall at 18 mph, it keeps helping me all the way to 27, a huge difference in my ride. A little pricy, but a very well engineered product.
