Ideal for virtually any fishing application as well as scuba use, the LPS-1 Hand-Held Sonar depth finder in nautical yellow is designed for portable ease of use. With a powerful 200 kHz 22 degree built-in transducer, the LPS-1 reads depths from 1.8 to 200 feet and can even read through ice for ice fishing. Equipped with a backlit display for low-light and nighttime use, weighing just 11 ounces, with a waterproof floating design, there is no reason to go anywhere without the LPS-1 Hand Held Sonar.

The depth or distance is digitally displayed for 10 seconds before automatically shutting off, with no risk of battery drain. For fishing, simply touch the device to the surface of the water. For ice fishing, the signal will shoot through clear through the ice. When diving, use the LPS-1 to check depths or distances to any object under water the water including reefs, sunken wrecks, and even the distance to the surface.

With a backlit display, the LPS-1 gives a reading for 10 seconds. Features:

It mostly works. I am using it mostly for Ice Fishing, it seems to be very finicky. Often, I will hit the trigger, and it will not come back with anything on the display. Try it 1/2 dozen more times, and then it will finally work. It seems like there is a consistent 12" to 14" discrepancy between this and my Vexilar flasher. But it's a consistent miss so I can account for it. I like that is gets me to within a foot or two of where I want to be without drilling a hole. I wish it would be more consistent with coming back with any data. The inconsistent working happens both thru the ice and thru the drilled hole. I am always careful to keep it very vertical. I have to keep it inside my jacket and warm, or it will never return data. I am assuming that has to do with the 9v battery power. This would be a better value at about 1/2 the price in my opinion. If this unit fails, I will not replace it as it's too finicky.

We are very happy with this product. It came in setting feet but under the front lid are dip-switches. One is in another direction, change it so all are at the same direction and then it’s in metres! We use it when we anchor up with our cabin boat, we could ow anchor up really shallow. Check the depth I’m different directions and if needed bring it on the dinghy and take soundings at the anchor swing range.Awesome!

bought for easy depth testing on ice as i travel across so i wouldnt have to set up my vexilar fl20 sonar w/camera each time. didnt read through ice well, will have to try it more to see if better results. but read well in clear water to the bottom.

I am a kayak fisherman. I wanted a quick and easy way to check water depth without all the bells and whistles of a full fledged fish finder with transponder, wires, battery, etc. This is perfect. Just stick it in the water and push the button forward, pull it up and read the depth. I have checked the accuracy in a boat with a fish finder. It works right out of the box. Couldn't be more pleased. Not cheap but worth the price.

I got certified as a scuba diver this year. Made a 76' dive in Lake Travis, in Texas as my "deep dive" for advanced open water certification. The visibility down there was awful, and we all hit the floor at once when we reached the bottom, pulling up a cloud of sediment that just made things worse for everyone. I was fortunate to have a few dives after that in much clearer caribbean waters, but also at lake 288 in the Houston area, where the visibility, again, was not that good.Bottom line: while I have not yet tried this for scuba, it is rated for 150' depth, and the LCD is lighted, so I expect next time I am out in Lake Travis, it will be great to just swim out some distance from the shore, and know where the bottom is. And then, on my descent, know how fast I am approaching the bottom as well. The shell is built like a tank. The inner part looks like they just tossed a printed circuit board and a few cables in there and put an end cap to it (not a "sealed unit" within, so of course, never unscrew caps under water or let any water in). If used as intended, though, it should serve a lifetime.
