The USB C to Ethernet Adapter, atolla USB Type-C to LAN Network RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter is decent. You know it is connected because it lights up at the USB C connection when plugged into a device (i.e. table or phone) and at the ethernet connection when a RJ45 ethernet cable is plugged in. There is no power source for it. It will get fairly warm after plugged in for a few hours and it does pull some battery life from the device it is connected to . It seems to run the internet connection without problem. It is good that there is some bit of a cord for the USB C connector end. But I think that I would prefer the USB C connector to be a 90 degree instead of straight piece because the cord always get bent at the USB C connector and that pulls the connection out of the device just enough to disconnect the internet periodically.

I bought this to connect my mac to ethernet because I was getting wifi drops. This has been working satisfactorily for a few months. I get a speed to of 900 mbps with my 1 gbps connection. And there are multiple devices on the lan. No heating etc. no connection drops. Highly recommend with such reasonable price.

Now you can have a direct internet connection on a MacBook which no longer has any RJ45 Ethernet jacks. Simply plug into one of the Thunderbolt outlets on the MacBook and then connect to the Internet router. While high speed WiFi was available it could never achieve the full 1 Gigabit Internet speed our fiber connection provided at the router. Now when desired we can connect to get full speed, and not be limited to how much WiFi could do at the time.

I ordered this because the wifi signal on my side of the house cuts in and out, and I need a steady signal for zoom classes and video meetings. I just plugged it into my MacBook and it automatically connects, and my internet is so much faster now

Was unable to use it for Microsoft imaging, but was able to use it in place of wireless, or RJ-45 Ethernet connection.
