Others should know to beware of this type of item just because it's much cheaper than the oem one that costs more. All seemed good, like we were back to normal operation. Freezer began to get cold. We were thrilled. For about 90 seconds or so? Then we began to smell a foul burning almost caustic type odor. It was bad. I removed the wall plug and researched all the sources I could find. Redid my ck list.super cleaned the condense coils again. Ckd both cooling fans. Clean and clear evap drain not clogged. Clean catch tray. Double ckd the working condition of the thermostat. All connections good. temp settings. Every little thing I could find on a ck list from several troubleshooting sources. All good. Power up.compressor was working well. Evap tunes were frosting up good! Life was good for 30 or so minutes the freezer had dropped 40 degrees down to 20. All seemed great. At about 30 minutes running I began to smell that burning again but not as bad as before. I had to conclude that after a repair things need to heat up after a period of dormant for several days. I re-ckd again. All was well. I'm ready to slide the fridge gently back into its spot. It's still on adjustable roller wheels. At that time I saw smoke. I hurried to the back of the unit. The relay I had changed had ignited into a large ball of flames. I freaked. Removed wall plug and tore the insulated rigid cardboard compressor/ condenser fan cover off the back and weirded that like a giant wing to create a blowing out effect. 3 or 4 good blasts of wind. The fire was out but the smoke!!! So glad I was there to monitor everything. That could have burnt my house down. Was advised by several sources in pro repair to never use Chinese online knock offs because they are made cheaply and this is a common occurrence reported by many others who had a fire erupt as a result of saving what would be considered a substantial amount of money. I learned my lesson.Thank God I have a chilled very cold breezeway I can use as a walk in cooler. [It's Feb in northern Indiana] and a separate chest freezer closeby.I'm currently looking for my next fridge to buy. Old stinky is on the front porch. Next stop is the junkyard

The relay was delivered quickly. Diagnosing the problem was easy and installation was easier. It got the 2002 KitchenAid side by side refrigerator up and running again.I would buy from the supplier again; their product description and information was very helpful and accurate.

The factory original relay burnt up (see photo) on my old Kenmore 106.52012100 fridge. This Ultra Durable replacement relay fit perfectly onto the compressor and has been working without issue for nearly two weeks.**Update 9-9-2024:The 1st one lasted about 9 months and then then stopped working. The overload protector stopped working and when tested with a multimeter is showing as an open circuit. My fridge is old and has been abused, so it is possible my compressor is going bad. With this in mind, I'm leaving my rating at 5 stars.I have just purchased this relay a 2nd time and have it installed already. Fridge is working again and I hope this relay will last longer this time.

This product worked great with my 20 year old maytag side by side. Easy to install, and a good price at $12 , repair couldn't get it plus they usually charge $48. Just have to watch a few videos online to make sure which part needs replaced.

My 18-year-old fridge started making a "clicking" sound and stopped producing cold air. I did a little research and discovered that it could be a faulty relay - indicated by a "rattling" sound if you shake it. I bought this small unit, and it was an easy job to remove and replace the old relay with this new one. Plugged it in and voila, the fridge was back.Blue Stars was a good choice. The unit came quickly and in new condition as promised. This solution obviously won't last forever, but it is certainly a good way to keep from replacing the entire refrigerator before it's necessary.
