This a decent oil drain plug removal tool, pretty comparable with other ones of the same type. The magnet is pretty strong and the textured grip lets you hold on to the tool even if you already have some oil on your glove. This will work pretty well as long as the plug spins freely - if there is resistance the tool head will slip off the bolt head. Also, this will not work with magnetic drain plugs - the magnets in the decent plugs are much stronger than this one.Overall not a bad product - if used in the appropriate application it will save you a glove here and there when doing oil changes.

This is a brilliant idea, a tool to remove the oil plug while keeping your hand far away from the splash of oil. On every oil change there’s one glove sacrificed for this operation, and I have to double that impermeable glove with a thick cotton glove for thermal insulation as the oil is hot. Most unpleasant part of the process. This tool attaches via a strong magnet to the head of the oil plug, and a fin on the side ensures it rotates the plug as you rotate the handle. And the handle is very well made, large and with ribs for a very good grip, I bet I would not lose grip even if drops of oil will land on it. Simple enough, and it does work great if the plug thread is in very good condition and no contaminants made it into the thread. That is the case in about half the times on oil changing, in my experience. If the plug does not rotate smoothly, this tool’s head may slip sideways and the fin may lose grip on the plug’s head. I expect this tool to work well in more than half of the oil changes for my car, and that is more than enough to justify the admission price. The single issue I see is about the twisted cable: it is flexible to accommodate imperfect alignment to the plug head, making it easy to use, but it also twists internally on applying a strong torque. I would have preferred a flexible cable that is torque resistant, this one looks like stock multi-strands steel cable. So, my rating is a measure of my appreciation for the utility and ingenious solution in these tool, but the build could be better.
