So if you never replaced a set of struts like this....it seems more trouble than its worth. Let me tell you....it took all of 3 seconds.The ball-socket ends just snap over your connectors and that is it!Don't pay your dealer $75 for parts and installation. Just order a set from Amazon.You will need to know the size of your connector ball, but these are pretty standardized. You also need to know the length of your strut when open, and the length when closed. Again, these are standardized to 10 or 11 inches for tool boxes.The little clips will handle 10mm, 11mm and maybe even 12mm connector balls.Don't know how long these will last...but so far so good.

The struts on my tool box were no longer working and I was looking to replace them. My local stores wanted anywhere from $12-$19 for ONE strut, seemed like too much. When I saw these online it seemed too good to be true, but with the ability to return them I said why not.They arrived on time and installation was a breeze, bets of all they're made in the USA. You can't beat $6 dollars for each one.While they do hold the cover open and won't close I would recommend more than the 40lbs maybe 60lbs so that the cover pops open when you unlatch, that's just my opinion 40lbs will still work.I added some photos on how to open the retaining clip for when you remove the old and replace the new.
