Pretty cool little device! The Sursip Water Filter Straw is compact and sturdy, perfect for camping, hiking, or any outdoor adventure. It feels well-made and easy to carry around. Great to have for emergency survival or travel when clean water isn’t guaranteed.

Great compact filter straw. Good length too for allowing you to drink water from freshwater streams or lakes without sticking your face too far down. It's a little heavy for backpacking (probably due to the aluminum case which is nice to keep everything clean but does add some weight) but I would definitely pack this for most trips as it's compact and easy to use. The color I ordered was orange but it was more salmon/peach.

This is only getting 4/5 stars because it came with no directions. Granted, it's a straw -- doesn't need instruction on using; but, for something that is high tech it should have some instructions to include what it's to be used for and how it is safe.It was quite challenging to get all of the plastic wrap off and even untwisting the straw from it's container was difficult. It's solid and has a nice little hook to hang on ones backpack.A great deal of trust must be had in a product like this. The straw itself is stainless steel so you can't see through it. I see a great deal of filtration stuff inside -- but, what is it? How does it work?THe description on the page explains it -- but, if I had sent this as a gift to someone (or thought to do that) they wouldn't get any information. It says it can filter up to 264 gallons. That's a lot.All of the photos online show it being used with already clear looking bottled water with the exception of one showing the model sipping water out of a stream. That's where some trust must go into play.I did try using it with public water fountain water and it took quite a bit of suction (which means the filters are filtering); but, it had a highly metallic taste to it.So it definitely changes the taste of water. I"m not sure if it was post filtration of off gassing.
