I was looking forward to receiving this item as I usually have problems getting very close to cutting myself on my current Mandoline. It is a challenge not to scrape a knuckle when using my Mandoline every time.Receiving this I was surprised at the very large tall size of this item: the mandoline when folded is 13.25 inches tall (but has lots of extras to store in addition. - When operating it needs a lot of table space, about 1’ in diameter at least.>>. Trying out the Mandoline:. the instructions are fairly good and it was easy to put together and use. I cut carrots, radishes, cabbage, lettuce and potatoes on my first trial use and all were easy to cut. Setting the blades for different cuts is not hard and you can see the blades from the back moving in and out. The chute is designed to grab hold of items you want to slice which means you are not pressing hard on them just to get them to cut. For long items, like carrots the shute was a little awkward - very wide and the carrot sticks wobbled around a lot.Pushing down on the blade in a diagonal angle took a little getting used to and overall the process was very loud, my kids ran into the kitchen wondering what I was attacking with a hammer.>. What I like best is that your fingers and knuckles never get near cutting blades.>>. What I don’t like is cleaning the Mandoline as food gets stuck everywhere: the tiny grooves, the teeth edges and residue between blade slide and the main part of the Mandoline; here your fingers could get easily near the blades while cleaning it, - they do but provide a cleaning brush to keep your hands away from the blades - but ….* Bottom Line *: This is a very large item that takes up lots of space even when you are not using it. I have not decided if I am keeping this item. The question I need to answer is will I use it often enough to justify the space it takes up. If you do a lot of cutting and you have the space for it, I would recommend it.🌟Verdict🌟 => 3.5 STARS: still torn - will I use it enough for the space it takes up - will update as time goes on⭐️ -> (*My RATE SCALE*: 5=perfect; 4=minor imperfections; 3=on fence; not sure if I’d buy again; 2= too many problems; 1= shouldn’t be sold or is dangerous).>> -> Please NOTE: I consider 4 Stars a very high rating.

The moment we received this little chopper, we set it for thick strips and threw in some potatoes. It cut them into fries so easily! None of the fries were very long, but for this convenience, I can easily ignore that fact. I tried to use it to dice some onions, but that didn't work very well. I should note, however, that I didn't read the directions, so maybe it works great for onions too. When we were done, we took it apart and put the pieces in the dishwasher. That's crazy convenient too. If fries are the only output for this device, I'll still be thrilled. Easy 5 stars for this one.

This is going to save me a lot of time. I shred a huge number of vegetables. By hand it is really time consuming. This does a great job with little effort.

Great way to cut things without worrying about cut fingers. The chute is a nice size. It folds flat for storage, though you’ll still have the tray and chute taking up a little room. The tray fits in and behind the slicer to catch the slices, etc. There are suction cups on the base to keep it from sliding around. There are several ways to adjust the blade. You can set it to various thicknesses, and there are 2 different adjustments for each, what I’ll call, matchstick making blades. You can make fat or skinny matchsticks and vary the thickness of those. I used a potato and got small enough bits that I could use to make hash browns. I also made slices of different thicknesses.Cleaning is fairly easy as the whole thing comes apart. Just remember there’s still a sharp blade to watch out for. I’m a little bit stuck in my ways, where when I slice a potato or whatever, I usually slice it vertically or horizontally. This slices on the diagonal. It makes no difference in the grand scheme of things, just thought I’d mention it.

Washed this in the dishwasher, no problems. There's a pretty good user manual, but the box also shows how to set up and use this cutter with useful pictures. I like that you just turn the knob to make size/cutting adjustments. My carrots did get stuck in a few places, but they provide a cleaning brush that has a pointy end to help you pull out any items that don't naturally fall out. Very nice that it collapses for storage - it takes about half the space of my old one.

This thing is a game changer! I'd always been nervous about mandolins because of how sharp they can be and how easy it can be to cut yourself, but not this one! This one works differently and keeps you hand 100% safe! It's pretty efficient too! Slicing vegetables went from a 10 minute task to a 2 minute task!
