Magnetic base has no gripping power at all Didn't even bother to plug it in. Light is heavy and may have worked, but if the magnetic base is useless the light has no value. Will be returning it.

This is a brighter and wider coverage than many of the work lights - in part because its got a significantly larger head and the larger magnet to hold it.The head is good sized and puts out a lot of light but not blinding and covers a decent area - its a nice light to work withThe magnetic base is the larger size and holds well to solid metal surfaces - it gets progressively weaker if the surface is thin or coated with something - but its holding fine in a vertical position on my mill.The cord is thin and short - wish it was a bit longer, The light doesn't use much power, so they don't need a thick cord for the current but a thicker and more substantial cord would be nice for surviving the environment these are likely to be used in - which can be a bit rough and dirty.The gooseneck is a typical length but can feel quite short because of how stiff it is (and needs to be to hold this light). Its' not going to make any tight bends and I wish you could screw it into different sides of the base - it would be easier to put in an ideal location - I may modify my baseThe head is nicely finished but the rest of the light is a little "cheap/rough" feeling but completely functional. It would be nice if there was a hex or flat section on the bottom of the gooseneck so you could really tighten it into the base well.For the price, this is a reasonable deal - its a bigger, brighter and wider coverage light that's sturdy and works - if you really beautifully finished and constructed, it would be a lot more money.In my mind that makes this a reasonable value and a very functional light -You do need space for the head but when you have space, this is a nice work light.

I have magnetic bases and lights in my shop and anticipated this to be a good replacement for one that is currently burning out. Wrong. This thing is huge and puts out a ton of light. That's not necessarily a bad thing but please pay attention to the dimensions of this baby before purchasing to make sure it is suitable for your application. The other thing to note is that this tips over unless the magnet is engaged.
