The sleeve is made up of a Delrin (type of heavy duty plastic) that helps protect the pole and limits the noise it causes you do not scare away a spooky species of fish. This mount will help you lock the back of your boat in that perfect position that you require. It's also built to withstand the heavy torque wind and current can put on a boat.
