I have a travel trailer that I have had for a couple of years and have continually tried to improve it.Started with 600 watts of solar and 400ah lithium batteries and 3000 watt inverter along with a honda 2200 thought I would be good to go as far as electricity goes. Well, I blew a big fuse when I was out in the boonies of Utah one night last summer firing up the ac unit and with the generator going too with no spare fuse,,, it was a long hot night. It was the surge of power the ac unit requires on startup.So, picked this up, TaleBoy Soft Start for RV air conditioners.I was skeptical and a little scared, some no name brand electronics hooked up to my pricey ac, but I needed to do something to help run the ac. These types of units have been out for years now so maybe these guys have been able to copy what has been done before and make it work. They did.Really, just follow the instructions and don't overthink it. There are three main wires on the top of the compressor unit that you need to splice this box into, that's it. Find a convenient place to cut into the wires between the compressor and the electrical junction box.What it does is slow that initial flow of electricity to the ac unit...it's not really slow, hardly detectable, but it's kinda like a sliding dimmer switch for your lights. Rather than instant on, it gradually increases the power to the ac. Again, it's still hardly noticeable to me but it made all the difference.Now, I can run my ac on the batteries or on the generator, no problem.My rig, 2023 grand design imagine xls, 30 amp, single ac rooftop, furion 15,000

After installation, this significantly reduced my current demand in the 15K unit from over 42 amps to 13-14 amps. Now, the 2500-watt inverter operates smoothly without issues caused by AC device restarts. Plus, the loud thumping noise is gone! These products not only perform excellently but are also easy to install.

I was REALLY looking forward to installing this soft-start on our RV's A/C. The item description and reviews claim a simple, straight-forward installation. However, upon unboxing and inspection, both the label on the item as well as the instructions state clearly that a "relay or contactor" are required, and neither are included. Even more frustrating, there is absolutely NO contact information for either the seller or manufacturer, and there is NOTHING available online anywhere about this specific brand/model. The description page says Amazon is handling the customer service for this item, but the link is a dead end. I would really like to use this but cannot even install it unless I can find help with the relay/contactor question.

It was small enough to make it easy to install inside the AC cabinet, The noise level was low and it function just fine. The end rush during start-up was 32A and that was reduce to 20A with the soft start. I like it and will be buying one for the back AC
